Polaris is a Sh@# show

Until skidoo lowers their secondary clutch about 8” they will handle like **** no matter what you do to them. High rotating mass is bad…

I picked up my 23 a few weeks ago. The brake lever has minimal throw, definitely feels different from my 21. Never felt one that tight before.
Except for the part where it may go up in flames [emoji91] but otherwise flawless…

Did you mean flameless??? ???

so you don't want them to fix stuff they discover is wrong with a product
No I want them to test there products adequately before they release them to the consumer.

The brake stop ride is ridiculous they had all summer to come up with something if they knew there was an issue, but they wait until almost to dec to say something.

The recall is due to the Burandt wanna-be's riding their brake. I believe I read somewhere the issue has only happened to 60 sleds; which I would have thought there would have been many more wannabe's than 60.

So relax, if you know how to ride a sled without riding your brake you'll be fine.

As long as Poo gets it fixed ASAP that’s what counts.

Two of our riding buddy's got new 2023 Polaris sleds and both have had the multiple recalls. Both also kept their old sleds just in case. It stinks, but more and more I am considering keeping my old sled as a backup next time I buy new.

I do believe it’s the new brake master.
We have been lowering the brake fluid in the reservoir for years. Once the fluid heats and fills the reservoir the expanding fluid pushes the piston out making the pads drag causing more heat.
With the new riding style being taught, finger on the brake, and as tight as the lever is on the new master exaggerates the problem.

doesn't Cat use essentially the same master cylinder?
any issues there?

The fact that this is something they had to have known about since last season could they be using it as a stall to try catching up with late orders? The incidents per sleds sold to reports and actual fires is a much higher percentage than the tank issue. To go with that the mountain sleds are planned last delivery over trail. Just seems like they should have been sorting this out a while back or kept it in the back pocket as emergency use.

If it is a brake drag issue and filling down the lever worked I’d hope their engineers know that consumers already have a “fix”. Coming from a company with a lot of engineers I know that ours do not pay attention to anything other that what is right in front of them.

Glad I have my other sled. But patienta is wearing.

One data point: at the top of Snow King last March, the only racers immediately pulling side panels to cool their brake rotors were riding Polaris Matryx sleds.

All of the hill climbers use their brakes heavily in this event, but not all of them are panicked at the top while dumping handfuls of snow in effort to cool down rotors so urgently. When KC got to the top each run, he literally pulled the panel to chuck snow in before doing anything else.

So is it the Polaris rotor? The lever spec? The reservoir? The overall design?

I'll be curious to see what their official fix looks like.

If you watch a lot of riders sporting the new master, the brake light is constantly illuminated.
Makes sense. Definitely seemed like the Matryx spit out the parking brake warning much more often while riding.

Most of the fast guys have to go this and have had to for years, If you're ever on the hill when KC flies by you can hear the whine of him dragging the brake the whole way. Blaine Matthews had a skidoo on fire at Jackson.

Thats to save the belt from the brake heat, not to save the brakes.
