I am in the market for another hand gun, and I am leaning towards a Springfield XD 40. Is there any pros and cons to this gun?

I was also thinking about the sigs. I will take a look at those also!

Dude, I am way, I mean way younger then you.... But since I am in the Optical Industry, I have taken care of my seeing issues. The shakes, there are pills or beer for that!

Thanks RLG! I am going to head to the range and squeeze off a few, they have guns that I can test shoot!

I just went through this and decided on the Ruger SR9 stainless 9mm for many reasons.

Stainless and plastic is very durrable out doors and I wear it on my hip while hunting. It has great sights and is nice and light. It holds 18 shots! It also has a very narrow grip, I have small hands.

9mm is half the price for ammo than .40 and the gun was only $469 at Cabelas. Just my opinion - E

springfield

i just got the springfield XD, it comes with two barrels, 9mm or 40, two guns in one, takes 20 seconds to changes the barrel. For plinkin huck in the 9mm, hunting season=40.

The Ruger is nice but a little too small for my taste.
It would be a great conceal gun though.
Make sure you get the recall work done for yours Eric.

You can't go wrong with the XD. I have 2 now...I use the 40 cal for my service weapon and I also have a 45. It was handgun of the year in 2006. It has a lighter trigger pull then the Glock and also has the hand safety in addition to the trigger safety. I have also had the Glock .40 as a service weapon...the polymer frame cracked on me right near the end of the barrel. I love my XD's. If you want to conceal...get the subcompact.

Wish I had your money. :D

Ok, I am going to go shoot the XD's this weekend! From the sounds of it, it is the way to go! Thanks guys!

XD and Glocks are very similar. Rent them both and get what feels and shoots best. I have a Glock 23. .40 cal compact. 13+1 capacity, conceals well, fits my hand. I am a fan of the XD too. XD 45 compact will be my next purchase for a pistol.
