Today was a pretty scary day on the hill, myself and my cousins wife were both caught in a avalance today! The danger is very high right now. I thought we were being very cautious all day and trying to navigate around some areas. One area we go has broke free before so we were being super cautious going across the base of the hill. I saw the hill start to slide in front of us and thenlooked directly to the side of us by the time I noticed the slide I didn't have time to turn and look at her to warn her before it hit us both. I was about 10' in front of here and it hit me like a freight train throwing me off my sled and taking me down the hill about 200-300' before I stopped. And she was buried aabout up to her waist about where it hit us.
It happened instantly! We thought we were being careful and taking precautions but once it broke there was nothing we could do. Just like to remind people to be cautious of the surrounding and don't put yourself in harms way as much as possible. It seems like I am hearing about a lot of avalanches this year already and many of them are not as fortunate as ours was. We walked away with some bruises and will probably be pretty sore tomorrow but for the most part intact.
Wish I could say the same about the sled ;(.

So glad your okay !! Here in Western Montana Avy warnings are up for the entire region !! Super heavy wet snow on top of some weak layers = Disaster !! At least one not so lucky this year in this part of the mnts.
