Piston to Cylinder Clearance....Save my Motor

Here is some information in the Arctic cat service manual.

It works the same no matter the sled type.

I would also bet the clearances for the 800cc cat motor are pretty darn close to the 800 pol motor.

Maybe it will help out.

What are those measuring tools called that you are using in the photos and where is the best place to get them from?

The c-shaped tool is a micrometer (a measuring device), the t-shaped tool being measured with the micrometer is a telescopic gauge (expands to match the diameter of the cylinder, then locks in place). Both are machinists tools, so where to get them varies with what you have access to in your local area (or there is always mail-order). One needs AT LEAST this sort of equipment, if not an actual bore guage (and be well-practiced at using them) to check cylinders accurately. Calipers aren't enough for more than a "ballpark" measurement.

Inside micrometer and outside micrometer. You have to know the size of piston your going to be measuring. Like 3.5". The mics. Will come for measuring certain sizes like 3- 4 inches.
