what is the deal? i tried shutting off motor, some times works. then move machine forward a bit and still a PIA! is there a fix?:mad:the chain is not over tight or loose. really stupid deal.

tiny handle

I couldn't agree any more, the darn handle is so small I can barely get two fingers under/around it and half the time if I do get a hold of it it won't move...

The mechanism seems similar to my old mid 90's venture, with the slight clunk and brief movement of the sled rearward when shifting, except that sled had a REAL HANDLE that an adult could operate.

LAME.

I haven't had any issues with it while riding....trying to unload it after a day in the deep then a trailer ride home yields a frozen linkage, but that's it.....

I love the backing it up and it slips out of reverse, and you shoot forward...

it is a poor design!!!

Are some of you guys retarded? No, honestly, are you retarded? Think about how the reverse system works, its a gear box. Have you ever driven a stick shift car and experienced it not wanting to go into gear? It's just the nature of a manual gearbox. The gears will get bound up because if they are under load (even a slight one). All you have to do is rock your body backwards while pulling on the bars and the sled moves backwards slightly and viola, no gearbox binding and it slides right into reverse.

This also happens on quads from time to time.

Funny how I've out over 2100 miles on my reverse equipped Nytro and I've never had an issue with it not going into reverse. I get really tired of reading posts about this being a POS or that being a POS when the problem is due to operator error.

I had a problem with mine. Turned out the actuator mechanism was hitting the foot well. Dremmled out 1" x 1" and everything is fine.

Reverse???

Instead of cutting footwell just bend arm to clear.I have done this on 3 Nytro's so far and there has not been a problem.
Autopro

Boys, boys....adjust the linkage arm. Itll be okay......

I am confident that is the issue...thanks for your genius intellect and your razor sharp skills at winning friends and influencing people...

well it ain't the linkage and its not the handle. it's not hitting the foot well.guess i'm just retarded, oh yes that did get you red rep azzhole!!!:p

Hope this helps: on my RX-1 I just jump up onto the footboards and rock the sled back and forth a little and it pops right in. The gears need to mesh and moving the suspension/track side to side does the trick.

Also, I was pretty careful to adjust the linkage 1/4 turn like the instructions said (not sure if this is the same on the Nytro).

Hope that helps.

I still think it's an issue of inadequate leverage due to the small handle. I know that rocking the sled, moving it forward a little, etc. works but sometimes it's just a PITA.

And yes, I am retarded. You should be more understanding you insensitive clod.

What a tool.
The design is a POS. It needs a bigger handle and it's very prone to freezing. And on my Apex I very rarely ever needed to rock it to engage.
Keep your dumb a$$ comments to yourself.

What a bunch of fricking cry babies. How about selling your Nytros and buying a 2-stroke? Then you can post how big of a POS the RER/PERC systems are when your engine dies in the middle of switching from forward to reverse.

It isn't THAT hard to shift the sled into reverse.

Oh, BTW, I didn't design the system or work for Yamaha. Maybe a little bit of patience would go a long way next time you're throwing a temper tantrum about reverse.
