My understanding is the the Peak is a 2.5 version of the 2.25 Ascent.
The Snowest article on the Ascent says that the 3.0 pitch was noticably better than the 2.86, so why are they only selling 2.86 Peaks this year?

from Snowest

"Our testing showed us that the wider
pitch is the best design in terms of packing
the snow for acceleration and floatation,"
explained Powers. "We also tried 2.86"
pitch version of the Ascent track and
it did not perform as well."

so are you saying don't believe everything you read?

Maybe they havesome sort of agreement with Yamaha to NOT sell 3" pitch Peak 2.5 tracks???? We can only guess as to why and if or when Camoplast with sell 3" Peak tracks.

the lugs just look really thick, ie. competition track. I smell a trencher!
