Parking in the snowies 1/31

Don't want to sit here and ***** at people, but I am going to anyway to help get it off my chest.

Today buddy and I got back to our truck to find not only had a couple of trucks (Iowa Tags) parked behind us (even though behind us in 2'X3' it says NO PARKING) so we couldn't load up without driving forward, but two from Iowa and Nebraska blocked us in so we could leave until I had asked every truck down the line if they could move so we could drive home. Do people just not care about any one else? Is that the answer? We were puzzled as to the people who do this, and drove the first 30min in silence both trying to contemplate a meaning to this.

It makes me sad, but nothing was going to take away from the 6 hours of great riding.

about 1/3 of the Albany parking lot did good today?

A sign that says no parking is useless if people can't read which i think is true for a lot of people or like you said just don't care.

Sorry to hear. Today was about the busiest I've seen in the Snowies (due to such a beautiful day I'm sure) and yes.........people, I believe lose their freekin minds. :face-icon-small-fro
"Gotta park close!" so they jam it in wherever they can. Parking down the road is not the end of world...............besides it lets you ride your sled a bit longer and you can work on perfecting your whoop-di-doo riding style.

Imagine that. How about the grey semi rig with the matching trailer camped out at Albany parking lot today. I guess they had difficulty reading also. They easily took up 2 or 3 spots. Nice folks, but it's not a camp ground.

yeah the berm did not help a whole lot, one guy was parked like 10 ft from the edge? and the east side of the berm???

Imagine that- someone camped at the Albany Lot- The cops need to hand out some paper- and I dont mean toilet paper. So do you think they were eating and drinking at the Albany Lodge?? The lodge knows who they are and should educate them- But having talked to the owner of the lodge- they are probably cut from the same cloth.

Leave the semi in town at the truck stop- No Camping means NO CAMPING

It has been alot of years since I have rode around there. Is there a sign or something that says no overnight parking???? I dont remember it.

Not trying to be a jackazz... just curious....

What about that flatlander from nebraska that took up 4 spots at greerock. Busyest weekend so far this year and some jerk parks his big RV and trailer in the middle of the lower lot. Thanks a****. Does anywhere else have snow? Please some of you out of staters go somewhere else. And yes I live here pay taxes here and have to deal with all of you trash year round when you go home. Sell the sled and buy whatever your state has to offer.

We rode out of Centennial yesterday as well (1/31) - we had no parking issues and had a great day of riding. We parked a little further down the hill than the last time we parked up there, but it was no big deal. We found lots of fresh powder once you got away from the highway and the crowds.

I dont know if you can read or not, but when you are driving up, notice the sign for Medicine Bow National Forest. That means whether you live in Wyoming, Nebraska or Florida you pay taxes on that land. It there for everyones use, not just locals.

The trash and parking comments, well its just as much the residents as the non-residents. Get a clue!!!!!!!!! You should have a little respect for the non-residents because if it wasnt for tourism your nice town would probally be about dead!

Be happy you got to go riding on a nice day, with good snow, and you came home to your family. Quit the beatchin!

Here we go again. I think I'll sit this one out but there is some good information concerning this subject at the link below. It might save some of you from a p***ing match (unless that's what you're looking for, lol). Take it from someone who has been in a few over this whole mess. It doesn't matter where you come from; some people choose to not follow the rules because it’s not convenient for them. The big board in the Albany parking lot is filled with information that folks need to know. That's why it is there. Everyone should take a few minutes and read it. It (or some little sign right by it, I don't remember exactly which one) states that there is "No Overnight Parking". That would pretty mush rule out camping also. It's pretty simple. Space will always be an issue at Albany but being considerate and knowing the rules should never be. Good luck and have fun!

It does not hurt to call and express your concerns.

Not lookin to get in a pissin match. Since a post was put up directed towards non-residents/flatlanders, thought I would respond. Probably should have just ignored it. Its just why cant some people just enjoy a day in the mountains. Its snowmobiling for pete sakes... its not cancer... There is bigger things to get wound up about.

If rules have been created then it needs to be policed.. no argument with that. I cant believe it isnt. We were at Greenrock one time and got chewed out by an officer for something very small. I think it was because we rode across the road or something. We were about the only ones there at the time too...

Thanks for the link, I will read through it...

People are funny and when it comes to their yard, or their city, or their State, some get very territorial. I'm sure I have been guilty of it. I think that no matter where you live, you want folks to be respectful when they visit. I expect the same, if not more, from those who live here as well.
I wasn't directing my last post toward you Outlaw Addict but rather anyone wanting to debate the issue. It's been a touchy one and very "spirited" discussion to say the least. If people read the 180 posts from the link I posted earlier, they will get a feel what has been discussed.
This is America and it belongs to all of us. We all share the responsibility and have the duty to be respectful no matter which part we are in at any particular time. Especially in popular places with little space. Just my opinion.

If you want to park up the mtn further get your lazy azz outa bed sooner! It does NO good to name call on here against one state or the next. But since you are did you ever get YOUR bronco towed out of HWY 30 up on the curve? Guess there are jackazzes where ever you are from! so dont quarinteen one state or another for ONE guys stupidity. But by the content of your post stupidity runs in your family! OVER

As for a serious note and I didnt look at plates cause I dont care. BUT, there were 3 or 4 trucks that did not want to park down line and parked against the gaurd rail on South side just past lower parking lot. Peeps can not get by when two wide so please try to keep it single file from there down. Not sure there is a formal rule or it is unwritten??? but peeps never park two wide from there down usually.

So your the people that ripped the wiper blades off, turned the mirrors around backwards, pizzed on our door, stole personal property, trashed our p/u, and etc. says alot about your charactor. We have been coming to the snowies since the early 90's and never seen this sort of treatment. now that we have astablished who did the vandalism we will be getting ahold of the authorities.Good thing we took pic. before we left!!

I am glad you think that I was going to let your parking bother me enough to mess with your truck, but one of the rules that I live by is never mess with another mans vehicle no matter what (I have had someone do it to me). If you would like to contact the police I encourage you to do so. I didn't touch your truck and people were there to watch me not touch your truck, so I have nothing to worry about. I pulled forward loaded my sleds, asked someone to move so I could leave and then drove home. Strange that you took a picture, it seems like you almost expected people to react to the way you parked.
