I fully comprehend what computers, or should I say, massively parallel digital processing algorithms embedded in FPGA matrix are capable of. It's not one sentence or even an idle threat made on the internet, it's the ability to pull up long term social behavior, manipulate it, and use it against you in court. If some federal guy gets mad at any one of you, and pulls up all your comments on the internet, then selectively filters them, he could make any of you appear to be whatever he wants.
It's synonymous with thousands of little laws, that no one enforces, unless the cop wants to hold you or put pressure on you. Guy I worked with, back talked a drunken cop. The cop pushes him up against the wall, and starts telling him how he's a cop, and he'll just wait outside of work, and find some reason to pull him over. Guess what, the cop did. And, there wasn't anything he could do about his trip to jail. Of course, charges where dropped after he spent a 4 hours in jail, and went through a strip search.
Besides, with OnStar it's not the federal government most of us have to worry about, it's insurance companies data mining for high risk behaviors. And, always being able to come up with an excuse, why your rates went up. There's not one person on this board, that hasn't driven a pickup a little overloaded, or picked up a little too much speed going over a hill, or cut a red light a little close, or did a U turn out in the middle of no where. And, I'm sure the car companies would love to use data, to denie warranty coverage. And, like JeffC said, the government would love to find a reason to tax you more. Besides OnStar's intentions have nothing to do with this, all it takes is one bill, and Governement Motors will roll over and give the government whatever they ask for.
I don't support the patriot act either, never have. Stupidest thing Bush ever did. Also believe his stimulus checks where started the communist ball rolling in this country.
