OnStar will get you a ticket or prove liability

You guys here the latest commercial where the Onstar operator reports it to the 911 operator as a "airbag deployment with a maximum speed of 80 mph" So now that they have a record of this and you as the driver are going to possibly have liability issues or ins. not wanting to pay due to neglegence etc.etc. after YOU paid for the service to do this. I wonder how long it will be before there will be a suit under this or a form like the information act you have to sign to get the service.

Have a friend that bought an 09 Sierra Dmax. Chip/Exhaust nothing insane, after a couple of days (bing bong) "This is OnStar, it appears you have emissions issues. Please contact you local dealer!

Why I drive a '78 Ford Bronco - $17.00 a month insurance, $0.00 a month payment, regular gas, I don't care if I scratch it and NO TRACKING MY MOVEMENTS. (as long as I leave the cell at home)

We off-roaded a buddies truck back in HS when it first came out. Went off a "small" lede in it, bounced like crazy and bent the rear hitch up and bottomed HARD!

Didn't know anything about on-star at the time, our blarring tunes go dead and this lady chimes in "onstar here, it appears in our records you have been in an accident? Do you want me to call for help?"

We are chitting oursleves wondering who this god voice is, trying to find a mic to talk into and hide the booze cause we didn't know if they had a camera too. Tell her that we are fine just out off-roading, and NOT to call for help haha.

Quickly returned home thinkin it was the end of the story, but his dad found the damage from the bottom-out and confronted us, wasn't worried about the $100 to fix the truck, but the $250 I think it was for the phone call as he wasn't signed up....

not to sound H2snow on this....But I've been preaching this for a couple years now on here about that crap.

if they can unlock your doors, get you unlost, etc. why can't the cops have them turn your car off, etc. Not so crazy sounding after the Patriot Act and the cell companies rolling over to the Man.

No OnStar for me and if I ever get a car with it, I'll find a ghetto aced shop to disable it.

Interesting.
On Star is a General Motors subsidiary, everybody proly knows that.
Hmmmm..........now that GM, Government Motors is owned largely by 0bama Binladen and the Feds , now he can track you too.

I don't have a vehicle with that feature, but ya' know every circuit and electrical device is fused in one of the fuse holder blocks.
I think I'd just do some research and pull that fuse. Onstar is a GPS connected to a cell phone, and interfaced to the vehicle computer module.

Or maybe locate the circuit for the Onstar and have a little cut out switch in easy reach under the dash.
Turn it on after the fact of an emergency if needed. :face-icon-small-coo

A piece of black oxide finish aluminum foil covering the roof mounted antenna should render it disabled too. Black finish to disguise.

good tips Wiz.

Course all the car companies offer some sort of onstar now.

I love my 90 probe more and more each day...well except for those days it kills at intersections, or the exhaust leaks into the cab or the wipers won't stop or the gas tank leaks or the oil drips. But I love that car.

Ive often wondered about on star and why it couldn't be used to listen in on private conversations or track you when some one was curious about what you was doing even tho you had no subscription

Typical paranoid thinking.

Yeah, the gov't is listening to your conversations in your car...right...why would they do that? You have NOTHING to talk about that they would want to hear. You and I are not important in the big scheme of things. Get a dose of REALITY!!

It's no different than the "big brother" paranoid hippies of the 60's.

The gov't wasn't listening then, and they are not listening now.

Spend your energy on something productive. Life is too short...this isn't practice!! One day you will be old and wish you hadn't wasted your energy on this cr@p.

I agree. The government has much better things to do than watch me drive down the highway.

It has nothing to do with OnStar. All the car companies have "black boxes" in the car that can be read after a crash.... Something like the prior 2 minutes to an accident. There was even a thread on it on Snowest a while back.... Google it.

There was an article on the web somewhere where either the FBI or CIA used onstar to listen/bug conversations going on in a vehicle, pretty big hoopla made about it.

The only people that should be concerned are those that have something to hide.... for the most part anyway

lmao...well if there was an article on the web...it must be true!! Sorry jonnyk, couldn't help myself!! :D :beer;

there are 300 million people in the US...people need to stop thinking they are so important. Like Fordman said, the mfg's have had the capability for a while....THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU (whoever you think THEY are!!).

rynokron...X2!!

aww thats soo thoughtful LOL.......yup no new sh1t for this cowboy .......everything in this yard is paid for and I threw my cell phone out the window the other day ..won't be long untill everything you do or say is tracked and used against you .....this pc is next on the list if I can just kick the frickin habit lmao
