The pilot is good! You can not see how he picks them up but whoever is making the connection has to be on their toes, and the pilot needs to ground the hook to let the static discharge. Helicopters have so many moving parts it is just like the Van-digraph generator you played with in High school science class, but on a much larger scale. They can generate enough static electricity to stop your heart or worse. Cool never the less!

WOW...Ive set a few power poles under a chopper but nothing like that. If it wasn't for all the safety involved this guy could set dozens of poles a day !!!

I'm sure it relative to the size of the chopper and the weather and a host of other variables. My employer is too safety conscience to allow us grabbing it live.

I have to get my jolts when on one looking by sand blasting stuff inside a rubbermaid bucket. Better than coffee as far as waking you up. Yous'er!
