Okay, serious question

I've been reading all winter, spring and summer about the various motor ailments affecting the 800 CFI-2 and I think I get it pretty well. I have also paid very close attention to everything Indy Dan has written, and very much believe his "fix" is the solution for the motor, turbo'd or not.

Anyways, so here is my question(s), and I'm just looking for learned experience.

1. How much reliability will I lose turboing my Assault 800. I the motor has only so so reliability stock. And Indy Dan alluded he believed the turbo makes this engine actually run better than stock due to better heat dissipation in the motor. What's everybody's experience with this? Could a turbo'd motor really be more reliable than a stocker?

2. Turbo brands: out of the gates I've heard great things about Silber. He is also here in MN, so could install too. What are other good turbo brands? I like the idea of an intercooler, an adjustable boost, and a bov with some adjustability.

3. And did i mention I live in northern mn? And I also ride here mostly at elevation of about 1000' to 1500' above sea level. I'm also not big into using race gas, just 91 non oxy gas we can get here.

So what is everyone's experience, can my turbo dreams be fulfilled? Idvlike to think so, and without sacrificing reliability and losing valuable riding time.

Thank you in advance.

Start with a motor from indy dan then go with turbo of choice. Id talk to with neil with boost it, hm turbos, boondocker, and silber. Try to ride different kits and pick which one you like next.

Before you buy any turbo check out Push Turbo, Ken has designed a setup that very well may put him way out front. Its watercooled, has a billet throttle body before the turbo, uses a third injector that also cools the intake charge, Vipec ecu from precision efi (no more piggy back and many other benifits), claiming 10 psi of boost on pump gas:face-icon-small-ton

I read up on the Push kits a couple days ago, they have pushed to the next level of innovation for sure. I think the other kits will be playing catch up now. And the price of his kits are not that bad considering you get the Vipec ecu.

Where can i find info about push turbo?

They don't have the info updated on their site for the polaris yet, but they have it updated for the pro climb. I would imagine a similar setup for the pro rmk. There is alot of info on the site, it goes into great detail how everything works. I wish all manufactures would go into this detail explaining their kits.

I have to say that this push kit looks very impressive, sounds almost like a pull and go. But pull and go isn`t that easy..:p But if this vipec ecu is so good with turbo`s as they say its going in the right direction for sure. And btw, push has good info as u said.

He will be at haydays with one in a pro chassis, I saw one at Grantsburg Wisconson. It looks really impressive and very hi tech but yet very simple. It is a very clean set up and not packed in there. It draws air from the factory intakes and every thing is ceramic coated including the turbo. He claims amazing botom end torque because he can build his own timing curve because of the Vipec ecu. Air fuel ratio is consistant through out the throttle and ecu recalibrates every 200 ft. It should be the best turbo to date, I WANT ONE :face-icon-small-ton

I'd say if you have the money it's worth it, but I wouldn't wait to save up for One. It spools faster, but you can make a normal turbo spool fairly quick too.

PUSH PRO KIT

Been around push's kits for past 4 years, Never once seen one that runs good. However hes a good guy and offers good support to his customers.

My pro has pulled many PUSH sleds back to our testing cabin together.

Go Ken keep up the back stabbing work.

Holy crap, them's fightin' words! Super 2 plus 2 ALWAYS equals 4. You are adding a lot of "stuff" to your engine, a lot of power to the drivetrain and a couple of layers of complication to your whole sled. I don't see how that can make your ride more reliable and not cost you some downtime. I have read nearly all(if not all) of Indy Dan's posts on his engine package. I don't think(pretty positive) that he ever says that he is building his motors to take boost. He doesn't even add any performance(HP) to his engine. He is just saying that his engine will last for a very long time as he builds it and if it doesn't he will make it right. I think the question you need to ask yourself is if the added performance from the turbo is worth the added cost and headaches, which could be mild or total migraines.

I can't beleive that just happened...is ther bad blood there??? anyone know?

I believe stock comp ratio on the pro is 12:1. I have seen lower compression heads (11.5:1) for sale, with these you could prob get away with some boost on pump gas around home. Have been considering these options myself. It will be a couple years before I can put a turbo on anyway, hell I still have to buy another pro to replace mine from last year...:face-icon-small-sho Maybe haydays will be good to me this year.

I dont care to explain our relationship with PUSH turbos over the internet.

We used to be great friends and stay at the same cabin and test sleds together.

That has recently changed, some friends you just can not trust.

Contact Silber turbos, for special pricing on our kits if you currently own a PUSH or plan on getting one.
