Oil hits another record

Invest in anything that would be handy to have in a barter system once the economy collapses. Ammo, bike tires, lumber, hardware (nails, screws, etc). Learn skills that will make you a bankable commodity.

That is, of course, if you believe we will be having Great Depression V2.0 here soon.

ammo is a good one, i still want to pick up some more firearms but running out of safe room.

they need to change the oil market to the same standards as the grains ect, that would tie up alot more of they play money if 50% were required.

IMO, a market crash on oil is really the last thing we want. A steady decline would be better.

But, it is just my opinion.

I disagree. If the market crashed tomorrow you would see some SERIOUS repurcussions in the oil producing markets.

Places that depend mostly on oil exports will have a huge recession.
People like Hugo Chavez will suffer more than others. He has used the oil revenues from his country to buy power and to remake his country. When oil crashes, so does he and his country. that in my opinion will be a good thing.

Countries that pay for terrorist do it because they can. They have the money to spare. With a serious oil crash, they will have more pressing things to worry about.

And if the USD market crashes, how long until the Iranian Oil Bourse comes to be a reality? How long until most of those oil producing markets refuse to accept US currency for the oil they produce? How long after that until the US dollar is more worthless then it already is?

If the US market were to crash tomorrow I don't see any way that the market would stay tied to the Dollar.

edit: I know that article is very over the top, read up on that subject though especially regarding the telecom trunk lines that were severed earlier in this year (the day the Oil Bourse was supposed to go into effect).

I just fighured out the reason for this increase....

Yesterday 00nightrain posted about the tanker truck that crashed and burned by his home. That fuel has created a huge catastrophie!

I can't wait to see 200 a barrel!!!

Think of it this way... the more oil goes up the sooner the people that ride the fence with the green idiots will change their mind to allow new refineries and drilling to happen here at home.

At 150 a barrel it still won't happen but at 200 a barrel it will. When the elected thieves can't get donations, they will chase down another avenue.

The sooner this happens the better.

How many soccer moms will change their minds at 10 buck a gallon. My bet it 90 percent of them.

Just wait until you here everyone over the weekend tell us what they are going to do about it. The Sunday shows should be interesting.

Im completely with fordman on this one ..lets have a great big train wreck and see whos still standin

Let em change to the Euro.
One of the problems we have had in this country for 40 years is the US dollar has had control over everything. Which of cource made everything more expensive to build anything in the US.

When the US dollar bottoms out, it becomes cheaper to make it in the US. Let Europe experience the mass exodus of manufacturing.

Also, when the US dollar is no longer the big dog, the cost of oil will come down. The huge barons that run the stock market will get a serious slap down. They won't be able to raise an eye brow and change how things are done. The Politicians won't be getting there huge profits for looking the other way.

I personally think it might be perfectly fine to let europe take the lead for a while. Let them become the whipping dog.

The price is going to continue to go up, at the point it can't continue to climb there will be a collapse of $ bill. The oil won't be drilled here at home to support ourselves because that is not the motivation. The "powers that be" have different motivations-Continued big big taxation and continued big big big big and bigger government. What could happen when the dollar collapses, there will be plenty of support for the pieces to be picked up. Euro dollars, Chinese $, and a big world bank to help facilitate.

MMMMMMMMMM? Very astute observation.:beer;
Let em change to the Euro.

That is an angle I never really looked at before. I just don't want everything to become worthless in this country. Though maybe if it does happen we could buy a sled for less then 10,000 new

It's a free world..

If you don't like the price... Don't buy it!!

Oh yeah.... it's not that easy.

The only way to control oil prices is to control the demand. The big oil is cashing in.... and will until the big V8 guzzlers are gone.

As for the soccer moms... They are TW's and can afford the prices.. so they will be the last to change.

What are you doing to make the change?

Some of you guys are thinking the Mad Max movies will:eek: become a reality...LOL

I was at the pump the other day ..guiy next opposite say ...holy fawk gas is expensive ...

I said ..not really ...you just can't afford it ....and calmly pumped on 900 liters .......

But if they base crude on the Euro, won't that be a boost for the Euro, and since we would then have to buy our fuel with the Euro, won't we then need even MORE or our worthless dollars to convert to the Euro to buy crude?? Or am I missing something?

Actually yes.
There is a major piece of the puzzle missing.
That is, we can produce all the oil we need right here.
The US has had and will always have the ability to adapt. I am not talking about paying more. I am talking about the ability to figure out other ways to get things done. We are the most adaptive country in the world.

E-85, hydrogen plus the oil reserves we will then tap, and make no mistake about it, when gas gets too high, we will tap anwar as well as anyplace else we need.

As for the US dollar being weaker than the Euro, in my opinion that would be a good thing for us. The Dollar being stronger than any currency in the world has driven our manufacturing out of the country. We have no industrial base left to speak of. We need to rebuild the infastructure of this country and the best way to do that is to weaken the dollar and make it profitable to make stuff here again.
