It's always hard hearing about more people getting caught up in avy's and not making it. Very sad.:(

Thanks Teton....I'm gonna keep on preaching! We aren't out of the danger! This year is still one of the worst we have seen and will be until it is over. I was out yesterday and I don't know how many little hills cracked and wanted to slide! BE CAREFUL! PLEASE! I sincerely don't want to hear about anymore! NO MORE!

the thaw is over. it rained!!! it froze, now 3 FEET of fresh on top. tonight HEAVY wind up here. severe wind loading. local avy danger on the rise. it's HIGH. Sunshine coming this weekend. bad combo. please watch your asses. please.

Looks like the word may finally getting out. I didn't hear of any avy deaths last weekend. That is very good news! Lets keep it where it is.

Please ride safe everyone!!

I think THIS weekend will be the big test. last weekend most of the west was quiet with thaw type weather. the switch hit sunday as it turned to heavy snow and a lot of the west got 3 feet or more. a lot of areas had low danger posted last week and it's back to HIGH in a lot of areas. It's a mind game now. I hope Mikboo is right and the word is out to check and keep checking ALL season long every day. I can't wait until it's safe to go anywhere. For now it's safe to go where it's safe. enjoy the weekend and all the powder folks.

Up in Cottonwood Pass on Wednesday. I noticed allot cornices dropping. Large blocks coming down and triggering slides. Wind, snow, and more wind. Today suppose to be sunny and warm. Another cycle to get conditions right for natural and triggered releases.

I didnt see anyone mention the 11 snowmobilers in canada 8 died. I think end of dec first of jan. All were buddys from small town grew up together. SAD!!!!!

Klim offering free 4 hour avy cource

We are considering offering a free 4 hour avalanche and general survival course free of charge at the EXPO and the Hill climb.
Is this something that would interest you? Or is there another way we could help? Please let me know your thoughts.

Hate to add another to your count, but we lost a Great Man last weekend in California. Just went out for a quick back country ski trip. Wrong place at the wrong time. God bless all the family and friends of all the folks we have lost this year. At least they went out doing something they loved. :(

And sadly:Add the three in Wyoming at Indian Creek area today as well as one more rider from my area today at Upper Priest lake, an area known as Trapper creek. Fukc.

update

this has been a terrible week again. Shallow snow on south facing exposures has heated up and released. It does not take a lot of snow to bury a person.

3 snowmobilers lost in Alpine,WY area
1 snowmobiler lost in Priest Lake, ID area
1 skier lost in CA

that puts the climbimb total to 37 lives lost. We still have March and April at the very least. Please be careful and mindful of changing conditions.
