Octane Boost With 91 or even 85

Just wondering if i should run octain boost with 91 octain on a push pump gas turbo at 7.5 lbs boost? not all gas stations around where i am from have even 91 octane, 85 most of them. i dont really want to have the hassle of carring race gas around if its not needed. just wondering for the convience factor.
thanks

To tell you the truth octane boost does not really work if it says it adds 10 points... well that is true it does but 10 point works like this.
if you have fuel that is 91 and it is actually say 91.1 ten points will take you to 92.1 octane.

What you need to run is Torco race accelerator, it is a concentrated form of race gas and it will take your octane level of 91 and take it up to 102 if you add 32 oz to 10 gals, if you add 32oz to 5gals of fuel you will get 105 octane.

This is what I would recomend using if your thinking about octane boost so it should take your 85 octane fuel that you can get and take it up to either 96 or 100 octane which should be good for that pump gas turbo sled.

If you need any more info on it I can get you some, I run this stuff in my sled and have never had an issue with it.

I was reading about torco fuel accelerator. This is what it says right on the website:
"Torco Accelerator is race fuel concentrate. It is unleaded, and it won’t harm sensitive O2 sensors or catalytic converters"

I think it is best to have a leaded additive not unleaded like torco fuel accelerator. Boost juice is leaded. I am told lead acts more like a lubricant.???

Thoughts?

When you run pump gas it is not leaded and it lubricates just fine, and if you are adding oil to your sled through either oil injection or premix then lubricity should be no problem.
The guys that run 02 sensors need to run unleaded fuel or they will be replacing 02 sensors more than needed.

And how much does the boost juice actually increase the octane rating?

I just picked up my boost juice. I'll open up a box tonight. I think there is a break down of how much to add to get a desired octane. I 'll try and post it tomorrow.

Exactly what I was talking about everyone talks about points.... A point of a Octane is not taking your 91 octane fuel to 92 it it taking your 91 octane fuel to 91.1

This is the biggest thing to watch for with octane booster. Torco accelerator actually takes it up full numbers i.e. from 91 to 102 or 105 depending on mixture.

I am supposed to run 100 octane fuel in my sled and higher when i use nitrous, I run premium with accelerator so it adds up to 105 and have never had an issue.

This stuff works.

How much boost juice do you have to add to get a MON 111 or are you talking RON? I was told that if you could even get the octane any where near that high you would be adding so much additive that buying barrels of 116 would be cheaper? is that true?

It's working out that way. I need to redo my math.

Here it goes again:

11 point increase needs 6 onces per gallon

11.4 x 6=68.4 ounces

68.4 divided by 32 ounce bottle =2.13 bottles per tank

2.13 x 30 dollars per bottle=64.12 dollars per tank

64.12+ 50 for premium 92 octane fuel=114.12

vp 111 cost 122.20 to fill my tank

11 point increase only gives 103 octane

I need 105 -107

so 7 ounces needed per gallon =79.8

79.8 /32=2.49 bottles
2.49 x 30 =74.7 dollars per tank + 50 for premium =124.7 per fill up

according to another thread I can get octane supreme for 125 per case. I paid 360 per case! Not to happy.

sorry thought a m8 tank was 12.5 gallons I guess it is 11.4 gallons

Shain please explain.

11 point increase needs 6 onces per gallon

12.5 x 6=75 ounces

75 divided by 32 ounce bottle =2.34 bottles per tank

2.34 x 30 dollars per bottle=70.2 dollars per tank

70.2 + 50 for premium 92 octane fuel=120.2

vp 111 cost 122.20 to fill my tank

11 point increase only gives 103 octane

I need 105 -107

so 7 ounces needed per gallon =87.5 ounces

87.5 /32=2.7 bottles
2.7 x 30 =82 dollars per tank + 50 for premium =132 per fill up

Shain please explain.

You can buy race fuel in Canada cheaper than that

Just got of the phone with Shain. He indicates that 1.5 containers to one full tank is good to 13 pounds on my m8. I guess my math is wrong?

I'm not going to say Shain is wrong butt will he put new cylinders in when it sqeeks? Is that just at altitude because over here on the west coast there is no way that would work

I hear what your saying. I hope this gets cleared up.

Talked to Shane again. Disregard my math. I am confident in what he is telling me. 1.5 bottles to one tank is good to 13 pounds. Sorry if I caused anyone problems.

Thanks Shane!
