talked with a dealer here today ( riverside ) and the service guy said yamaha is going to be issuing a recall on the sub frames . i hope so but i dont belive him at all . i put a call into yamaha canada and the region rep is supose to give me a call back latter this week

I don't see Yamaha issuing a recall, would be nice if they did though. They would be more likely to deal with individual problems. I saw one that was bent but the guy had no skid plate and the lower subframe tubes were flattened from running over stumps etc. Some people just abuse stuff.

Wowza, and hear I thought it was a myth about them bending. Out of the 20 + buddys on Nytros that i ride with, not one bent one and beating on all of the sleds pretty good.

Thats hurting they wont warranty it, if it's as wide spread of an issue as im reading here.

Sure you guys werent calling BRP or BOSS seats warranty dept ?;)

Bent sub frames Nytro

I didn't know mine was bent untill one day looking at it sitting on truck deck.
Then every time I walk by a Nytro I check front shocks to see if they are in the middle or bent front ends.
Found a lot of guys don't even know there front ends bent and ball joints toast.
Short track or wide front end on mine and seems more of them bent.
Ordered up new 2009 front end with extra heavy metal!
Weigh the front clip yet?? Close to 90 lbs with skis

I hear talk of this plate for sale......But couldn't a guy just simply weld a couple bars across in a couple places as this would brace it the same???? I can't see it costing more then 20-30 bucks at most and if you have a welder or a friends it would take 2 minutes to fix. Just my 2 cents !!!

I have read of all these bending, but have yet to read where or what is actually bending, flexing, tweaking etc... (unless I missed it) I looked at mine a while ago & the left shock was off center in the A-arms so according to all I have read mine was bent. I have since swapped out the 08 a-arms for 09 a-arms & what do you know, both shocks are perfectly centered again  Did I un-tweak the subframe by changing a-arms?

Yes you can, will it work, may be or you can buy the stiffeners that Yamaha added to the 09 subframes and go that way. Your own choice. Some people want their stuff to actually look good though. My right side was 3 inches back compared to the left.

Still have sets of sale.

I went with Diamond S subframe and a arms kind of spendy but sub frame is 6 lbs lighter and arms are 8 lbs lighter.

Nytro subframe

Just finished putting in T-Nytro reinforcement (quite easy to weld in)Removed sub frame to do install, along with Timbersled front suspension and wildchild steering relocation.Tomorrow ,Timbersled rear suspension and 156x2.5 camo X!!

Looking at the Diamond S front end I noticed it does not have the '09 style gusset plates. My understanding is the plates also tie into the lower a-arm mounts.

The subframe is not the only thing that bends. On short track Nytros, the a-arms are prone to bending as well.

Have some guys interested in making another batch. Need more interest to do so. Let me know.
