My grandpa is in the market for a new sled either a nytro or a XP

Turbo Apex. Plenty of power and comfort, and he wouldn't notice the 700 lbs at all while boondocking through the trees.
You can put electric start on the great XP and it will still be WAY lighter than the nytro.

Haven't spent much time on either sled, but to me, the Yamaha seems like it'd be easier on him... Test ride will be the only way to tell for sure, though...

If this were my grandfather at 80 years old I'd put him on a skandic or tundra, whichever one it is that has the 20" wide track and stable chasis. At that age, the rider forward designs and nimble handling will translate to many get-offs with high risk of injury. It's awesome he wants to ride, but the latest and greatest sleds will be too much for an elderly man.....just my opinion!!
Hey Travis, My choice would be the xp.. That way when you guys are all wrenching, he will have something todo.

I would not buy another XP ! I would wait until the 09's are out. The 08's are very poor and inferior when it comes to build quality and reliability. They work well but be prepared to always have an uneasy feeling when riding it until Doo fixes all the issues, which may never happen. 07 ring a bell ?

Whichever sled feels lighter on the ski's and dives the least. I agree with Butta, a rider forward sled of any variety may not be the way to go.

at the age of 80 how can he afford a new sled? if he gets the nytro you may as well get him a oxygen tank for when that thing gets stuck
