nytro boondocking ability

I am thinking of buying a supercharged nytro and am wondering how well it will boondock? i currently ride an m series and have run dragons as well. they are both great boondocking machines.just looking for input as to how well the nytro sidehills and handles in the tight trees.i tend to ride where there doesn't look like a line.

I came off an M8 153" and got a stock Nytro. Now I have a T-Nytro. I really liked the M8 in the trees but I love the Nytro in the trees. I found it needed more power when it was stock and a better track........now I have both and it works great. You'll have to get used to the riding position as it is very differnt from an M. But once you get used to it they're a blast to ride.

It is a lot heavier than an M but the Nytro's are very well balanced and silky smooth power wise. I wouldn't hesitate taking my Nytro into any place I went with my M. I was a die hard Cat guy all my life but until things change I'll stick with my Nytro for many years to come. I mainly ride the trees and play in the open meadows and had way more fun on my Nytro. Nytro wouldn't climb like the M but I not a big hillclimber anyways.

You would rather ride a stock Nytro in the trees over an M or a T-Nytro over an M in the trees? You ever compare a turboM in the trees to your stock Nytro?

For boondocking it will take quite a bit of setup to get it to work some what. The approach angle is pretty steep so they tend to trench like crazy. They have a lot higher center of gravity as well, so they tend to not want to pull over and once you get it over they tend to want to go all the way over.

I've owned both. The T nytro will handle the trees and boondocking just fine. I know without a doubt though you don't want to be stuck in a tight ravine at 5 pm with the nytro. By the end of the day I'd be plumb wore out. The turbo M is something amazing to ride, just hope they hold together. I have no intention of going back to a 4 stroke.

I have ridden both A LOT. Stock and boosted. You won't beat the M chassis in the trees. Nytros are not bad, but they are no M chassis. Stock to stock, I am not big enough to throw the Nytro around in technical situations like I can a CAT. Boosted, they are more even. The other thing I have noticed is that the deeper the snow, the more the Nytro excels. In 3 or 4 feet of fresh powder a boosted Nytro is AWESOME! Hard pack snow, I can forget about the Nytro because when I lose the sidehill I can not get it back and end up in the bottom of the draw or canyon. Granted, when boosted, you can come right back up and out with no problem, but you are one tired pup at the end of that ride.

If you are considering doing one or the other, do the M with a turbo. They are reliable when set up properly.

Haven't ridden a supercharged nytro but there is no change in boondocking capability between that and a stock nytro other than the big jump in power. With that being said when I decided to look at a 4-stroke I rented one for 3 days to see if I liked it. The first 2 hours of riding it I HATED it. I immediately knew that I made the right choice in test driving one first because there was no way in H*LL I was going to buy one! I would point it straight up a hill and if I got knocked around it was game over I would have to go back down to the bottom and try again...I had no control of the direction of the sled. I decided to go into a meadow and learn HOW to ride the nytro and got the hang of it real quick. A 3 day rental turned into 5 days of non-stop riding.

What I did to setup the suspension the way "I" like it. Keep it in narrow stance with the sway bars attached. Put the limiter strap in the second hole from the tightest position- creates a better approach angle but does limit your suspension travel. I kept the center shock pre-load the way it came from the factory and the rear shock/torsion springs as tight as they could go. The sled is the best handling sled I've ever ridden. I met some friends up on the mountain and an old die hard ski-doo guy wanted to ride it...his words were "I would have never believed it if I hadn't ridden it!". The chassis is very responsive, and reacts to input well.
Weight is the big thing, it doesn't feel like it's heavy WHEN your riding it ( I am a big guy tho)...but get stuck and you know it's there. It's only about 20lbs heavier than my old ZX though.
The M chassis is wicked I have very little seat time on them but I loved it, seems like there is no effort involved to get it on its side. Can't comment on the TM8 but I'll hopefully see 2 of them in action this winter!

no doubt about Racin's comments...the M is a phenomenal chassis...just my opinion, but the M is designed for tight conditions...I have spared little expense on my Nytro...and it will do pretty much anything I want it to do...However, it is no where near as flickable as a M...

However, it is not just the point and shoot the haters want you to think either...I LOVE the reliability of my Nytro, never have to think about it...Have ridden lots of other boosted sleds...the M Boosted, if set up well is a very nice sled...However, make sure you get a good tuners set up, as you dont want the torque curve to be identical to a typical 2 stroke, where all the power hits like a freight train at top RPM...otherwise you will stick yoruself too much in tight spots..you want smooth linear as much as you can for power control...(just my opinions)

IMHO...if you "mostly" ride tight trees I would stick with your M sled. The Nytro is a love/hate thing. It is just what others have said. I LOVE my T-Nytro when there is 6 feet of fresh pow and there is a sea of stuck sleds and you just fly by them all. I also like it in the trees when the snow is deep. However when it is under a foot of fresh it just kicks the crap out of me in the trees. I am fortunate that I ride in an area that gets 50+ feet of snowfall a year so the T-Nytro is good where I ride.

Why don't you boost your M sled and have the best of both worlds?!

Like others have said. I would stick to a TM8. For tight trees you can't find a better chassis around. I love my M and plan on putting a turbo on it this year so we'll see how that goes. Although I can't complain about the way a nytro feels other then it does feel a little heavy to me. I felt a lot more comfortable on it the 5 minutes I rode Justin's Nytro then when I rode a XP. If I were looking for a four stroke and had the money to lighten the crap out of the nytro and throw a turbo on there I would. NOt a bad sled at all. But, Stick with the TM8 youll be much happier.

what you need to ask yourself is, are you a rider forward fan or not? i personally am not. i tried the revs, couldnt stand them.

i wanted to go four stroke and figured yamaha would do rider forward right. after throwing waaaaaaaaay tooooo much money at a 2008 nytro MTX, trying to get it to fit me. i opted to try an M series last season, and had one of the funnest winters in years.

it all boils down to what YOU prefer. for me, i REALLY like the M series. ski
