Not in love with my new 2008 M8 Sno Pro

Just got back from the Black Hills first trip with new Hold over 2008 M8 Sno Pro. I have been riding an 2005 M7 I bought new 4 years ago I have loved it from day one. This thing (the new one) handled like a school bus push in the turns, could'nt get it up on it's side and track spin is terrible. looking for any setup info this thing just seems heavy in the nose. thanks for looking and any Ideas.

P.S. the fuel gauge came apart inside the tank had to fish the parts.

The newer skid doesn't transfer like the old

What do you weigh and what is the rear track shock set at? I'm 170 lbs and set mine at about 95 psi. Seems good. Were are the limiters at? Mine are all the way out.

Also, check ski alignment. Mine was off and I didn't like my sled at first. Fixed it and made a nice difference.

Also, stock skis suck. Love the Powder Pros!

What are the front floats set at? I run 52 psi in mine and ran the same in my my 06 M7.

Track likes to spin. Switch to the Powerclaw:)

I'm a big guy 230 I have 60 psi in front 110 in back and limiter is at factory setting I'm looking for new ski's and putting 4" riser I think that will help the most

The first thing i would do is dump that reverse , with the BD Extreme DD Lite. That will take 12 lbs off the front end . I just finished the install of the light weight front end kit that Cat sells . I cant belive all of that heavy steel that was in the front end.

$59.95 for 1.7 lbs of weight loss right off the front end , from your local cat dealer . Smokin deal if you ask me. So there is two idea's that will get about 13 lbs off the front end , add a Boss seat and you got 23 lbs off that school bus .

That sled is a monster , just not in "stock" form.:beer;

IF you look around you can find some soft snow but other wise pretty set up It was 48 degrees at trails head on friday there is more snow than there is normally this time of year.

The 09 book says something like 135 to 145 for shock pressure baseline in the the rear. My 08 book doesn't say anything(I can't find it). Are the 08 and 09 floats different? 95 lbs or even 105 seems a little low according to the 09 book, especially if you are a bigger guy, I weigh 210. I run 135 in mine but i have only had it out three times so I'm not sure I know any better. It seems good.

08 m8

Not sure what the difference of the 08 M8 and the 09 M8 is besides weight. I'm comming off an 05 M7 also and I got a 09 M8. The new M8 is an awsome sled. I love the M7 but the it needs a powder claw. That track is a great in deep snow. From the sound of your ride it sounds like the snow may have been the cause of your push. With that kind of temps was the snow great traction, cause if it was the track was hookin up good and causing the skis to loose grip. Just my .02.

Sounds like you need a Cross Fire, M series was never meant to be a trail sled, that being said, suck up the limiter for hard snow, trail riding, also tighten the front shock spring to lighten steering effert

why don't you go out and try adjusting your suspension, think about it, if it plows meaning won't turn, you want to add ski pressure. Either add psi to front or tighten limiter strap or ever add air at the rear shock. Did you mess with it wile you where riding the first time.

Yep

didn't try adjusting short trip lots went wrong including a deer running out of ditch and hitting my trailer. the sled just feels heavy in the front the snow was set up very hard most places. I'm an old guy I usally ride the trees and meadows this think just dosen't feel as nimble as my M7. My 20 yeard son is fiding my old M7 he rode my new sled and had the same felling about it he is 6'1" and 180 lbs he said " you really have to man handle it"

I too feel the new M-8 is planted heavy on the front, but.....

Before I let out the limmiter strap, I'm going to try it in good snow. I'm used to easy ski lift from my King Cat and the M has a hard time. That doesn't mean that it isn't perfect for powder and mountain riding. It's an easy fix if I need it fixed. The newer skid is coupled for just that reason. You could uncouple it and lengthen the limmiter stap and drop some presure in the front shocks[skis]. But I'm not sure it won't feel lighter in deep powder the way it is.

soften up the front to a considerable amount to get better front end roll, set the limiter straps all the way out and run the rear shock with just enough pressure to keep it up when your on it (kinda soft) it will let it lean easier and take weight off the from. But this sled is heavier than the m7, once you get it figured out and ride it you wont know the diff.
