there are some in the swap , get some M1000 dds for the planetarys if you cant find m8 gear sets then buy BDX gear sets ,, not welded like oe.

either way your into it cheeper than 800 each plus better parts and geared down if you wanted to , change the bearings and seals while your at it ,, you wont have to ask to many more DD questions after a job like that

For what it's worth, the gears in the 08 DD were welded from the factory and many of them cracked and the debris wrecks everything when it goes through the DD, but I asked my dealer about it yesterday after reading this thread and he showed me that AC changed from the welded to a pressed on gear and should avoid this issue altogether.

I went to Black Diamond Extreme a few days ago and they showed me their gears, they are spoked or ported to allow better oil flow to the bearings behind the gears. If I had to replace everything I guess I would go to BDX.

He said they now have a way of eliminating the mechanical reverse gear and turning the 08's into electronic engine reverse.

Sorry to hear you had both of them blow on the same trip. I would try another dealer. Sounds like they might not have called AC for you or at least didn't try real hard.

Call Oregon Trail Sports, last I heard Michelle had a couple 08 DD on her shelf for about 1/2 what your dealer quoted you.
