Not every one can afford Klim ? Whats the middle of the road

FXR gear, ebay style. got pants and jacket for under $100, and got free gloves when they were throwing free swag into the crowd at duluth snowcross. turned out to be $50 gloves:D dont care how it holds up cuz the gear was dirt cheap

I have a 7 year old KLIM tomahawk jacket that has been to hell and back. It still repels water as good as when it was new.
I paid $280 can for it, that's a pretty dang good in books

Cabellas is the way to go for the price. I disagree about it being for less active riders. I been wearing their gear for 15 years and am an "active sledder". :D Its all in how you layer for the amount of insulation your gear has, or doesnt have. But for the price, you can't go wrong. Plus they have a great exchange policy. Just my 2....

And that may be the case, I bought Cabelos 3 - 4 years ago. Really didn't understand the concept of layering that well. Sweated like a pig in it. However it has endured, I wear it on cold days at work now. Never worry about being cold.

If you can... hit one of the snow shows (Boise/SLC). I get SMOKIN deals there every year. Over at least 30% off and sometimes more. I even got a BRAND NEW avy beacon for $75.00 (retailed for $250.00)

Don't know what it is, but the odd cheap brand gets it right. I have bibs, $40 some cheap name that are so waterproof it's not even funny. I put them in my sink, ran water on them for like 30 secs, a simple wipe of water and they are dry  No matter what, they are pretty much bone dry after riding. If only I could find a jacket that is the same. Columbia titanium was a waste of money, after any day the jacket was 100% soaked, only my base layer kept me dry, barely. Cabelas gloves are great to, and very cheap.

I'm still not sold on the cash for Klim gear. And don't think I ever will be. Just need to find some good boots and jacket that is cheap and i've got a full set of cheapo gear that works great :D

I'm like some others about the Klim wear with a couple exceptions. Everything I wear is Klim except gloves and boots. Gloves I wear a variety of Dakine snowboard gloves, and boots are Castle ...... hate having cold fingers or toes and none of the Klim I tired were cutting it.

I'd have to agree on the Cabelos gear and the Castle for less active riders. I've had both and sweated like mad in them both.

never had sweat issues in my cabelas bibs. Proper layering...hell I could figure out a way to sweat in KLIM.

i hear you on the klim pricing, but i have to say that their gear kicks @ss! I'm a klim junkie. I have the jacket, bibs, boots, socks, pullover, and two different types of gloves. Plus, they are great to deal with.

for the last 8 years i have worn only one pant and one coat....Columbia Titanium. Not one Brand, I mean the same pant and same coat. For that matter one pair of boat too......Sorrel.

Warm, waterproof, comfortable, durable and affordable. GREAT STUFF.

I bought a columbia titanium as a last minute buy just to get me through the trip. And 3 years later the jacket is the warmest thing I own and it has kept me dry when my buddies are wet I also own several $500 coats and the columbia is still the best. The best $150 I have spent on gear. Pants I use what ever snowboard pants I can find last year I spent $35 on a pair of Ronin and was pleased and I am most likely going to run them this year. I bought a $50 pair of HMK gloves that were soaking wet right of the bat so I bought a pair of $7 drop gloves at REI and had my girl double stitch all the seams and they are pretty good gloves but when it is cold I go for the Marmont gortex work glove $80 bucks and warranty for life.

have a set of reima gear for 6 yrs, still in good condition and haven't been wet yet, although rain will find it's way around collars and cuffs. still very pleased with product . buy what you can afford, never can go wrong with quality stuff.

Whats a good second choice.

Not the most expensive, no junk, but somthing that will last but yet not break the bank !

Over the life of the product everyone can afford Klim. It might take a hit to get the stuff but when you price it out over the long run it's right in line with everything else if not a better deal in some areas.

Check out this website www.funoutfitters.com

I got a Tomahawk Parka for 165.00 from them and extreme bibs for 109.00
The sizes are picked over on the coats now, but they still have xl and 2xl bibs. Charged me no shipping. Great great company to do business with. I have no affiliation with them, just found them on the web.
