Not every one can afford Klim ? Whats the middle of the road

FXR is another really good line. I am personally not hugely partial to their color schemes, but some people really like them. They use a material called tetratex that is honestly one of the best materials I have ever ridden in. As long as you are wearing decent under layers (poly pro, or micro fleece) you will not come home wet at the end of the day.
And it is SUPER durable!!
Great pricing, lasts LONG. Nuff said

I'm like some others about the Klim wear with a couple exceptions. Everything I wear is Klim except gloves and boots. Gloves I wear a variety of Dakine snowboard gloves, and boots are Castle ...... hate having cold fingers or toes and none of the Klim I tired were cutting it.

I'd have to agree on the Cabelos gear and the Castle for less active riders. I've had both and sweated like mad in them both.

Thanks for all the input. If I had the money I would spring for Klim.

I would rather spend my money on riding. I also dont want to buy cheap crap that dosent last at all. HMK seems to be a good middle ground !

i would try some snowboard gear leftover from last year on sale 686 makes some good stuff with real durable material i dont have to worry about waterproof gore tex stuff live in utah and its always pretty dry snow

I have the Inversion glove for everyday riding (lightweight motocross style glove that is only water resistant) and the powercross for when it is cold. Those both work fine for me as my hands don't get that cold (unless I'm digging out). The Inversion gloves usually last me one season but I put in a lot of rides. I figure $30 a season is exceptable. I've heard of people tearing through Klim gloves quick, but I've had good luck.

Gloves

Regarding gloves: I'M supprised no one has mentioned True North (aka True Adventure) Storm Gloves.
They are the best gloves I have ever owned. I will never own another brand of glove.

which KLIM bibs are the ones to get, strongest and hold up best? Not concerned about powder riding, lots of rough trails, bumps, bruises, etc. (in ND) Need the ones that hold up well. Klim or HMK? Going to go with a different coat, but pants I need to really hold up. If HMK is better, which bibs?

Look into Burton AK Series snowboard gear. Gortex super killer gear. Check out backcountry.com, they got a lot of old styles that are 30-60% off retail. Burton has lifetime warranty on all their AK outerwear and are super good at replacing gear in the event you have some sorta defect. If you really want a steal, watch Brociety.com, which is backcountry.com daily deals up to 70-80% off gear. Scored my last pair of AK 3L bibs for $108, retail is $499 on a pair. :beer;

I have a pair of these now,I love them but they are not the warmest once they get a lil damp or you are riding at high speeds for awhile.

Buy last years KLIM. It usually is similar in price to all the wannabes..

If you get something else, only buy Gore-Tex. All the knockoff "waterproof-breathable" fabrics are garbage. I've had them all and Gore-Tex Klim is worth every penny.

There are a lot of people that will say different on here, but I wouldn't put much stock in some saying its not worth it unless they have had Klim. Like a lot of things in life they don't know what they are missing.

IMO... For the money... Arctiva.
i have arctiva and have had no problems. never got wet, stayed warm all winter, no complaints. just my .02

Cabellas is the way to go for the price. I disagree about it being for less active riders. I been wearing their gear for 15 years and am an "active sledder". :D Its all in how you layer for the amount of insulation your gear has, or doesnt have. But for the price, you can't go wrong. Plus they have a great exchange policy. Just my 2....
