Not every one can afford Klim ? Whats the middle of the road

cabelas brand gear. It comes with Gore-tex and if you hit the Bargain Cave you can do good for price. I got a pair of bibs for 160 four years ago and they are still doing fine.

There was another guy on here who picked up the unisulated Cabelas brand shell coat with gore-tex fairly cheap last year.

Or Gander Guide Series.

It's a tough pill to swallow but the KLIM bibs are worth it. As far a jacket goes I agree $350 is nuts! I have used North Face Gortex shells which have worked great. I've been able to pick them up for $150cdn when they are on sale.

I Prefer HMK over Klim myself. Just as good of product and I like the cut of the jackets and pants better.

so a lot of searching online. what do you ride? you can get cat clothing at a discount online. most stuff is just last years model, but still great clothing. i got my girlfriend's cat jacket for 139. it was 269 reg price. same thing with the bibs. cat bibs for 69 bucks. reg price 199. you just have to shop around. but i agree, klim is awesome. i have 3 different pairs of their gloves, and a jacket. awesome stuff.

If you can pick up last years Klim stuff, it's usually considerably cheaper. Food for thought.

fun outfitters has really good deals on close out Klim stuff too. They had Jackets for about 150 last year.

I've got the Powercross (thanks Bill!) and love em. My riding buddy uses the Togwotee glove and has nothing but good things to say about them.

I use Scott Warriors for the REAL cold days, but the Klims for everything else.

Carhartt actually makes a good jacket that keeps me dry. It's a black , shell jacket basically.

for the last 8 years i have worn only one pant and one coat....Columbia Titanium. Not one Brand, I mean the same pant and same coat. For that matter one pair of boat too......Sorrel.

Warm, waterproof, comfortable, durable and affordable. GREAT STUFF.

Ditto, I have tried many brands and KLIM pants are very worth it. (go to your local snow show and get last years model off someone dumping their gear)
Jackets, I also prefer north face but don't tell anyone, they are treehuggers. Don't buy them unless you can find a really good deal (sports authority labor day sale) and NEVER from REI.

Ditto on the Carhartts. Last winter I was getting a zipper sewed into my Klim bibsand needed something for a weekend. None of the sled shops had anything so I went to Murdoch's farm supply. The lady there told me her husband wore the waterproof Carhartts, so I picked up a pair for $99.00. I never went back to the Klim bibs. Never got wet all winter, full leg zippers, very happy with them.

Although I am a Klim poster child, there are some options. Tobe is on clearance on ebay right now. Also, Scott makes some great stuff. Look for the clearances online for new previous models.

I hear you on the Klim pricing, but I have to say that their gear kicks @ss! I'm a Klim junkie. I have the jacket, bibs, boots, socks, pullover, and two different types of gloves. Plus, they are great to deal with. I sent my bibs and jacket in after I trashed them and they did all the repair for $25 including shipping.

Keep an eye out on this site. They have good prices on leftovers. Looks like they are bringing in their new stuff so it's not as cheap, but they are the cheapest I've seen.
