North Idaho has snow

1-8-2014

The last few days have been Epic Blue sky days. The Wman says there is more snow for t-w-t maybe as much as 12" by next weekend. They should let the groomer out of the barn by then. Everybody that has stayed at the lodge says there is planty of snow and was glad they could ride this year. So if you are looking for snow we have it here.

It snowed over 3ft up high it is a bottomless pit and a stuck fest this is the words from my group I had this weekend Team 425(Hold my beer and watch this). The weather was not the best but had a great time and good food. the sun is out to day and looks like next weekend is looking good for riding. We have some rooms available, only $85 per person for all our food and lodging.

We had a 5-6' base but it snowed so much they could not find it.

Worth the trip

Bigrodney.
So worth the trip??? Thinking of heading up next week. See you are from Oregon so how does it compare to riding down here... Trip planned to Halfway but does not look promising with the weather and lack of snow.. So trying follow the snow.. Any input would be appreciated

I would keep watching the weather reports. It was warm Saturday and Sunday. Rain Friday night and early Saturday morning low, snow up high. Snow was soft but we where riding. Still need to be careful where you go. Call Tony at the lodge for a report. You ride at 4000ft but you need to get there. We only rode a couple places. There are many riding areas around the lake. Not as much open areas like halfway. There are some burn areas if the weather allows you to get there. Tony can direct you to riding areas.

I would go again this weekend if I could. It is an easy drive to Sundance.

Maybe someone can give us an update on Halfway conditions. Schneider meadows snotel shows 36".

PM me if you need too.

Yep, definitely some challenging riding conditions. The low-lying fog made accessing and playing in the higher bowls on Friday nearly impossible (visibility and super deep snow). Nonetheless, what we did get to sample at the highest elevation where we could still see was pretty incredible.

It was fantastic having Tony and the rest of the my crew waiting for me Thursday evening at 11:30pm in the entrance of the lodge w/ cold drinks and festive spirits. Food and lodging was great. The area has a ton of riding. I would probably want to ride with someone who knows the area in order to maximize the time spent.

Update for 1-24-2014

Fog down low and sun shine at about 4000' and up. The trails are groomed and the snow is tight or go anywhere snow. Which makes for exploring the area esay. The North end has some powder that is untracked. The forcast is for more snow this week but for know all take sunshine days to ride.
