Oh don't get me wrong, I am all for 4-strokes and the benefits and mod-potential of factory forced induction. I'm just saying that in stock form in the mountains, anyone who thinks an FST is running with the Dragons, XP's and M sleds either doesn't really ride mountains or is confused. I have no idea how they run on a groomed lake drag race because I've never been in one....don't really care either, hence why I'm posting this in the _mountain_ section

Had our ride today with Troy from LLC and Matt from AmSno/Snowmobiler.com
I won't bore you with the details other than to say it was a fantastic day!!
The heavy old FST held it's own and would climb with and sometimes out climb the M8 but underhood temps started robbing rpm's and hp. That will soon be fixed! The turboed Yammies from LLC were an absolute riot to ride, if you can afford one DO IT!!!! Now!

This will hurt but, sorry guys, the '09 XP 154" Stayed in the trailer, even with the FST the XP was still the odd man out.. Nobody wanted to fight with that thing..... =)

ooh I can hear the whining already. LOL

Check Snowmobiler.com and AMSNO for the pics and ride reviews in a week or so.

I know vertdef, we work together, have not ridden with him yet, but I know he knows what he is talking about. I do not doubt the results he gave at the beginning of this thread..................... HOWEVER, I seriously doubt the XP's he rode with are set up as they should be. I'm not saying modded, but SET-UP.

If you think about it, the race he quoted is probably purdy close to being true, after all, its a turbo that holds power at elevation better than a 2 stroke, and its a flat str8 race in minimal snow depths. OK, round 1 to the FST.

Now, Let's get together with someone who knows how to tune & set-up the XP and run them in a snow climb hill drag, deep snow highmark, and dockin in the trees .......... Rounds 2, 3 & 4 will go the XP methinks.

Vertdef and I are trying to get together and ride and we will post the results, I was wanting to make the ride with Matt & Kevin of amsnow to see what the foofarah is all about with the M8, but I am down sick as a dog now.

I rode with an exceptional running 09 M8 153 800 SLP setup, pipe & can on my Afton ride this past week, I rode it and I was impressed, however while it gave a good showing, it was no match for my stock 09 163 w/ HPS can.

See, anyone can use the same excuse we hear constantly from the XP guys that come second.
So, now you say, yeah but it was set up by (insert self-professed experts name here) , and then we say, Baloney, he doesn't know jack, etc, etc.
Some guys are legends, especially to their wives and in their own minds. LOL. O, and of course , on the net.

My 09 m8 has a 156 2.5 challenger and im still waitin for my slp pipe kit. One buddy has a xp with pipe and another has a 09 dragon with pipe. I walk past them easlly just stock. Xp's r piles of ****, the old rev works way better and looks better, i want one for my garage. The dragon is a kool sled too, It works well.

I really like all the new mountain sleds out there ... we are all lucky, my back thanks the big 4 for making a stock bad azz mountian sled that goes very well in the deep and the steep.

I have an 05 Rev 159" and have run that thing like mad up here in Alaska's backcountry. I just bought a new 09 XP 163" and have run it hard and have not blown a belt ( which I am thankful of). Of the two sleds, the 05 Rev handles and boondocks way easier,no doubt. Point and shoot the XP climbs better due to the additional HP and 50 lbs diet.

I ride with guys who have the 08 163 Dragon and the 09 M8 163. On a flat lake the M8 seems to kick my butt each time but I seem to climb in the hills better. The Dragon is an all around well built sled. Love the seat and running boards.

I give them all high marks ... great sleds, each one.

I think they are all JUNK !!! I've owned 9 cats, 12 doos and a polaris, all of them were junk, I have never rode a factory sled that performed the way it should have for the thousands of dollars I paid for it.

We all brag about the brand we are riding, but lets be truthfull ! if they performed the way they should, we wouldn't be spending thousands of dollars in aftermarket parts to make them work right !!!!!!

You certainly seem to have a knack for making a statement or conclusion, then, try to illustrate that fact with verbage. Is that also a sledder thing that I don't understand yet or more an XP rider kinda thing ?
