Nice place to stay in steamboat?

Hello gents:

Taking the wifey to Steamboat this winter for a sled trip. Will spend a couple days, and I want a nice place to stay - maybe outside of downtown? Is there any nice places more off the beaten path that might have hot springs or something of that nature? We will probably ride Ears. Any ideas?

Thanks - Ryan

I stayed at the Hampton Inn a year or two ago. It was nice enough, right on the edge of town.

You might also look into the North Park Inn in Walden and Steamboat Lake Outfitters.

If you stay in Steamboat there is a little night life and shuttles to strawberry park hot springs or the free bus to the city hot springs across from the rabbit ears motel. It is a 30-45 drive to snowmobile from town. SLO has riding from there. It is about 30 min north of town. To ride rabbit ears Kremling is as close as Steamboat.

The Allington is nice in Kremmling. Plus you can TP PJ's house after your done riding:becky:

Not much nightlife in Kremmling but the hotel is very nice.

you're really suggesting the REM for someone looking for a "nice place"???

funny stuff there.

I lived in boat for 2 years on & off, and have stayed at a number of places high dollar & low. In the price range of the REM, the nordic is a much better place.

NEITHER qualify for "nice place" staus imo, they're just decent places to stay.

Ryan, what's your dollar target? I could suggest places that are 100- 600... depends on what you want. I know people who own houses on the N side of 40 just E of the pass that rent them for a reasonable amount (for what they are) but that's more ideal for groups... but maybe that would fit for a one time special weekend??

REM is away from Down Town but still walking distance
Hot springs are just across the road
He is riding the Ears so REM is on the right end of town
REM is clean and the staff are friendly and will accommodate any request you have
I have not stayed in any 600.00 hotels in Steamboat so I have no opinion on them so did not comment on them
I am aware that there are many other places to stay in SB, but have not stayed in them so did not comment on them
I was not the only one to suggest the REM, it is a popular place

I was simply giving him that information, He can do whatever he wants with that information, You have a different opinion and that's fine, I dont think it was necessary to slam my post just because you have a different opinion, so now go **** yourself, :boxing::boxing:is that better.............:face-icon-small-ton:becky::face-icon-small-ton

Bushy's got a nice camper in the MC lot.

Location, location, location :face-icon-small-hap

Plenty of condo's for rent http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/colorado/northwest/steamboat-springs

The quickest riding right out of town is at the Dry Lake lot. Gets you up to Buff pass quick and is just a few minutes from town. Buff has twice the pow as RE anyway.

Strawberry Park Hot Springs is a must do if you like outdoor hot-springs. They used to have a couple little rental cabins there too. The road out there is steep and can get crazy icy. Better to hitch a ride on the 4wd vans, with the crazy drivers. Or be prepared for it.

I slummed it at the REM too. Not like your spending much time in the room anyway.

Thanks for the input. Looked into Strawberry hot springs, but not convinced that snowmobilers would be welcome there.

Ended up booking Waunita Hot springs outside Gunnison. Looks kick ***, and can ride right from the lodge.

Good way to end up with a ported chest! ;) You got a hunter and a cop living in this house. If the 9mm don't finish it, the 12ga will. LOL

Go with the Allington, nice digs and offer a nice discount to sledders. You want hot springs, 15 minutes East to Hot Sulfer gets you a pretty decent array of pools and even some private pools for you and the wifey. :lips:

And BR, waiting on that shipping quote for the Honda Skid plate. :D

FYI, REM is not outta downtown Steamboat, it's the beginning of it. and most certainly not off the beaten path.
