We are planning a snowmobiling trip early to mid march. Normally we would be going to cooke city MT but it seems as all the storms heve been missing them this year. So we may be going somewhere new for our spring trip. from my online exploring i am guessing ryan park is the place to go??? Cenntenial?? Where is a good place to stay? can you snowmobile from your hotel to the riding areas or do you need to trailer your sleds. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Just got back from our first trip to the Snowies on Friday, we stayed at Winter Creek Cabins just up the hill from Centennial. We had a great time, found fresh snow everyday. From WCC you have to trailer up the hill about 5 miles but it is a easy drive.

First time there last week....stayed in Laramie trailered to Green Rock Parking Area and rode the west side of the mountains, Quealy warming hut area was great...staying in laramie was ok, 35 mile drive to Green Rock.

If you're used to riding Cooke, I'd probably advise you to ride out of the Greenrock area. On that note though if you plan on parking the trailer and riding from your room I'd go with Albany Lodge. Mountain Meadow Cabins are located at Greenrock, but there is no food or fuel up there at this time. You have to go down to Centennial for that and any night life, bout 6 miles back down the mtn. In Centennial itself are the Old Corral, Mtn View Hotel, Friendly Store, and just out of town Winter Creek Condos. The Bear Tree has the best food in town and a great bar. Cheers.

We stayed at Snowy Mountain Lodge a couple times, but that place is closed now. Staying at 10 Mile Inn in Ryan's Park this year. Cabins look nice and newer and the lady at the lodge is letting us use their kitchen to cook our own food which I thought was kind of cool, so we dont have to haul a grill and stuff up there. Riding is around 10000-12000ft.

We're heading out there Friday! :face-icon-small-hap Anybody know the snow conditions right now and what the weather is supposed to do this week up there?

Riding area here is waay bigger than Cooke, smaller than Tog. Sled setup should be about the same as Cooke. Was up yesterday, good conditions but starting to get tracked in the common areas. A forecast out for Friday is a little tough up here, but they're calling for chances of snow through the week fwiw.

trip is finally planned thank you all for your input. We will be riding sunday thru wednesday. I'll let you all know how it went. If anybody sees us out there and wouldn't mind showing us around a little bit that would be great. I have an 09 everest 154 and my cousin has an 05 rev.:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap

I believe you can.. You can for sure at Maverick motorsports in Laramie.
Have fun.. You should be getting fresh snow while you are here!!
Avalanche Danger is HIGH... so be extra careful!!
ONE PERSON ON THE HILL AT A TIME!!!! Even if he is stuck! let him get himself out if there is any chance on a slide!!!!!!!

are there riding areas near the north french creek snotel?

That snotel is about 2 miles up from the Chains end parking area on the west side of the mountain. It has been deep around there all year and if you head north up the backside of the mountain there is some great riding.

Make sure you bring a gps and mark the locations of my emergency kits on them before heading up.

The area is huge so everyone needs to bring spare gas while riding.
Shovel, Beacon, and Snowbunjies are must have items.

Best advice is to not go down from Lake Marie into the French Creek area (seven fools). Everywhere else is good to go. Watch for avalanche terrain.....there are multiple layers right now and a slide could happen at any moment.

Have fun and be safe.

When we go riding we ALWAYS bring those items and some other things too! First aid and survival kits. I will definatly mark your emergency kits on my GPS. Thank you for putting those together they could be a life saver. I would hate to have to spend a night in the back country but if I had to your emergency kits would make life much easier. We may try to find them right away so we know where they are just incase? Just curios why noy go into the french creek area?
