I'm new to SnoWest. Just getting back into snowmobiling. WOW have sleds changed since high school in the '80's!
I found this site by searching Polaris 550 fan cooled problems with siezing. It lead me to a great thread by Tom400--- what a technical wizard! He tested his sleds just like I would have!!
Well, I bought a 2001 600 xc/sp and a 550 fan this summer- great deal from a guy who meticulously maintained them. The 550 was blown up though......thought this was a good project for my son and I.......now I'm not so sure....
We'll see how it goes with the help of SnoWest!
