New Summit Hill Climb special edition

It is sad that they stuck with the hill climbing special... The 154 Track is not enough. Maybe next year they will come out with a Mountain climbing special (163").

I disagree. My XP 154 has climbed some pretty hairy chit! Best climbing sled that I have ever ridden.

As many of you know the hillclimb edition was created because the jackson hole regulations are way more strict now for the stock class. So thats basicaly what its built for, skidoo was not trying to make an all around perfect mountain sled.

PJ,
I don't want to discredit your 154" I rode with them last year and they out climbed most but didn't hold a candle to the 163" I don't know if you have riden a 163 but the boon docking ablility is as good or better than the 154". My last ride was a 151 2006 summit X. My 163 is easier to ride and goes a tone more places.
There were a few places that we rode last year. No one with a track shorter than 159" couldn't make it in even after me made a trail.

Hill Climb Special

I think you should check with the dealers as these sleds also do not have DPM, just straight carbs.. the idea being many will mod them and the DPM gets in the way???/

Not sure but just a rumor

Thats why they called the 154 the "Hill Climb Special". The 163 version will be the "mountain climb special". Just like there is no replacement for displacement, there is no replacement for a long track on the really deep snow days.

as suspected, it does have RER and since it is the same 800R powertek motor, I would highly doubt it doesn't have DPM either...

I have one of these sleds coming but I still can't get over how the skidoo web site and pdf from a link above has so many contradictions. In one spot it says 6.9 pilots and in another is says 5.7 racing skis. Then in one spot is says 47.5 stance and in another it says 40-42. I guess we won't know for sure till I see it in person. Has anyone seen one yet in person the verify this stuff?

Summit skis, no tunnel stiffners and the same width as the mxz, except it has summit spindles with mxz a-arms so the stance is adjustable. This sled just like the Assault and Cat's newly released limited build sled was made for the Hillclimb racers. Polaris did an awesome marketing scheme and made it sound like a new segment sled. It's to bad Doo and Cat were asleep at the wheel with this one. Kudos to Polaris for keeping the price down too. This would make an awesome cornice jumping sled that could still climb with the best of them.
