Not a bad idea with any of the 4 manu's actually if you go too far into the backcountry.

The word extrapolate rocks.
This post is very interesting. But it sure seems that more dealers would chime in with some numbers. Who would know the rate of failure better than these guys? There is certainly bias both ways and it should about even out. This poll is about all you can do unless you have hard figures from dealers or the mother ship.
Not being a pro owner I have no experience with them, but you sure see a lot of interest in Indy Dans modification that does not offer any performance gain. To me that speaks volumes. Granted he does offer a guarantee but can't you purchase an extended one on the stock motor? Been a Polaris guy all my adult life and still am, but before I lay out 12 grand, I want to hear a hell of a lot less about skirts breaking off!
If you want a dealers opinion on engine failures I will give you mine. Of the appox. 100 Pro's we have sold in two years we have had zero engine failures. I have seen a few TPS issues and that is about it. How anyone can take this kind of poll seriously is beyond me. To make my point, I have never owened a Cat or a Doo but I went on the Cat forum and voted on their poll with a engine failure. Whats to keep anyone from voting dishonestly?

Is it just me or are the numbers on this poll vaguely similar to the old poll? Or are the Polaris haters still voting and people are researching their past posts and finding out they are not Pro owners? From my own experience, I run out of warranty in December this year and I am NERVOUS. My sled has been awesome to ride, but wildly unreliable. I read some of the earlier posts about the owner having the responsibility because of their decision to buy a Polaris...not sure about that one. Other than performing the maintenance outlined in the manual, I don't think you should have to go above and beyond to make your machine run when you pay over 10,000 dollars for one. That seems ridiculous.
Seriously aebsledder, when I'm in your shoes and within a year of warrantly expiring, I'd send the motor out to Indy Dan to have your cylinder skirts reinforced and his Long Rod Motor kit. Or just to have your cylinder skirts reinforced at least. You have one crack off and drop down into your crank and your engine is toast.
2012 pro 800 1000 miles, Piston broke and blew a hole in the cases completly destroyed motor. Need a short block!!!!
2011 Pro -3 motors and added warranty
2 rebuilds and 1 short block in 2800 miles
2011 Snowcheck has 4 year bumper to bumper warranty but
expires at 3,000 mi. Had to pay another $800 bucks to extend it
3 more years. Traded this sled, Snowchecked a 2012 Pro, it had 3200 miles on it. Lost 30 days riding with down time.
2012 Pro -1 motor at 1448 mi. Complete shortblock. For 2012 the 4 year
bumper to bumper does not have the mileage limitation.
I ride between 4000 and 5000 miles in a normal year. It's good to have spare sleds. Sidelined this spring do to medical.
I ride with 3 other 2011 Pros and they have rebuilt 4 motors. They are not forum members. To put in perspective we had a 2011 e-tec in the group that replaced 3 motors in 1500 miles last year. Now if we want to talk about Dragons I can fill your shop with used up powerplants.
