blew up today!

just had my 2012 drop a piston skirt and take out the bottom end today! 1400miles no issues at all until it went.

--Should not have to buy extra belts nor should you have to buy a piston kit or an extended warranty out of fear the $5k motor is going to grenade.

--There are simple simple fixes for both issues with the belt fix being less than half the cost of the engine fix.

How do you figure this??

I have a 1100 turbo that cost me over $1800.00 just to get cats stuff were it should have been....jackshaft,secondary,alignment,engine stops, motor alignment, chaincase, etc....

Seems to me you can rebuild a motor before it breaks down for $400.00 easily just like I did with my cat before it broke but cost me way more.

--fix it and sell -- sell -- sell

--the engines are throw away motors -- new OEM parts will only replay the nightmare over time and fix nothing

--you can get a 13 RMK (not Pro) with better cooling, chaincase(which can be converted to C3 if desired), upgraded Fuji crank, and thicker cylinder skirts(pistons still loose and will eventually break) -- or wait till '14 model year to see if Polaris OEM improved their product

Do you even own a Polaris? They're as reliable as any other brand out there. It's people like you that come on here and bash Polaris that causes people to think they are unreliable. The dragons were bad but the pros are good. We have 5000 miles between 4 pros this year, no issues! The 2 11s we had were over 3000 miles with no major issues. The 12 has 2700 miles no issues at all. 2 13s 1400 miles, no issues. Now get off your keyboard and go ride, or maybe you don't even ride?

I bought my 2012 Pro 800 in Feb of 2011, I now have 1411 miles on it, no issues at all. Put in gas, add oil, go.:face-icon-small-hap

pro motor

My dealer finally got the complete new short block after waiting 3 weeks and just told me that the reeds are cracked and the motor mounts are worn out and need replacing. After only 1400 miles! had to pay a 53 deductible and pay for shop supplies even with the polaris 2 year warranty.

When my '11 motor broke a cylinder skirt off and took out the rest of the motor it had approx 1600miles on it. There was absolutely zero sign that anything was wrong until it happened. So those of you with 1600 trouble free miles or less don't think you are out of the woods and "got a good one". That's what I thought too and there I sat lost a month n a half of riding in the middle of the already short season because of that.

I lost my PTO cyl a couple weeks ago cruising in my midrange but managed to break it free several times to ride it out. It would run about 100 yards at a time before it would lock up all the way to the truck. Haven't tore it down yet but its going to be bad haha oh well. It was a pretty poor running 400 turbo!
It had 1650 miles and put in new pistons right at 1400 for maintainance.

Blew dime size hole out bottom of pto side crankcase at 1795 miles, not sure which went first cylinder or piston skirt, both are gone

2012 Pro 800

1300 miles, no boost

I've always ran the Polaris oil, pulled the pistons yesterday and they looked brand new minus the carbon build on top of the piston of course. PValves didn't look bad either.

I was actually pretty impressed..... However I pulled them and installed the RK Tek drop in kit just to be safe and the ladies sled is getting new RK Tek pistons

2011 Pro 800
2000 miles
No problems
125 psi compression cold @ 1800' elevation throttle wide open
First 1500 miles Polaris VES gold +
Next 500 miles Legend Oil

I wouldn't own a Pro without a warranty period.

2012 Pro 163. ECU swapped out at 600 miles, intermittent bogging issues. Approx. $800 + labor + tax covered under warranty. I paid for a pipe sensor at around 1900 miles.

Just brought my sled in for regular maintenance and because it was surging on the last ride of the season. Dealer called to say the injectors are shot, clutch spring is broken, weights are shot, and the reed valves need to be replaced. This is after just two seasons and 2300 miles!! I don't ride like a madman, mainly boondocking and medium length treed hill climbs and plenty of technical riding. I always monitor temperatures and it has never overheated.

Approx. $2000 + tax covered under aftermarket 3 year bumper to bumper warranty that just paid for itself and more.

I just paid $300 to swap out the fuel filter which is an absolute crime.

I also have a 13 Pro with 400 miles on it and I'm glad that's it's under the same bumper to bumper warranty for another 3.5 years.

I love the way my Pro's ride but I'll never trust them to be trouble free. I look at it like dating a really hot model. She's temperamental needs to be re-assured and is high maintenance, but she looks fantastic and the sex is great. I just know we're never going to get married and it's not going to last, I'm just enjoying things while I can.

My 09 M8 was bullet proof!

I typically consider the clutch spring, weights, and reeds to be maintenance especially with the miles you have listed. To me these are kind of a wear item and I didn't know they could be covered under warranty, glad it worked out for you but I don't know that I'd be griping about it. I've probably replaced those items on my on dime in the past because they are more of a "maintenance item" then anything, so I'd be happy those were covered personally.

2011 switchback assault, 18-1900 miles not stock. Not a singel problem. My brother sold his swb assault 2011, 2500 miles (maybe more) the only problem he had was the tps. That motor was checked, good as new. None of my friends or people i know around the area with 2011-2013 polaris sleds has broken down. And we all ride at sealevel btw. I dont know if that could have anything to do with it?

This season my group of ridding buddy's Rebuilt 4 800 CFI. 3 2011 and 1 2012 all of them had burnt or broken reeds. All motors were between 1500 and 2000 miles. I know they are a bi*ch to change but IMO guys should be changing or inspecting these ever season.

My 12 600 had a crank seal go. Burnt down 1 piston and jug. Happened 2 weeks before it was off warranty. Had 800 miles on it at the time. Warranted no questions asked.
