[QUOTE haven;t seen them since...i have two pregnent daughters from them and a sheep that walks funny now...i have a few things to discuss...i will give them the sled back if they take my daughters and grandkids..[/QUOTE]

Damn engineers...

wonder hows much silicone they put on this one??
Haha, obviously not enough if there is still snow coming through the holes in the 09's!

Would be sweet if they come out with a 4-stroke sled, very possible to help meet the regs of the EPA.... would be really cool if had this new style rear suspension that you guys are rumoring and came in long tracked IQR's

I didn't know there was an M1000 catastrophy... I was actually looking at snowchecking one of them last year ... am I glad I didn't?

There was a thread on here discussing all the problems with the 09s. I think it was wyoboy1000 that started it. I think he was on problem 9 or 10 last I checked. To sum it up a-arms ripping out, belts, track/tunnel clearance, overheating, and a bunch more.

More speculation.....nod nod, wink wink...

I know that Fox has been working on some super new technology for Sled suspensions (shocks)... I wonder if Polaris will be the high bidder??

Race sled to replace the 5 yr old IQR.... probably get some super trick rear skid.... It would be great to see Levi roll out that thing at the X games...

Dragon Mountain sleds for 2010.... my guess... (that is the "ROOT" of SnoWest afterall, isn't it??)
If any mountain sled gets a "new" treatment it will be this model

Lightweight??

Mountain sleds are more difficult.... they need to be really light... so most of the gimmicry (read 2005 Polaris 900) will need to be cut back a bit and maintain a rock solid, simple design.

Current RAW Chassis refined a bit but essentially the same when you remove the bodywork and steering hoop, Refined current motors less the 700... Air or coilover suspension in the rear (like Cats or Nexus), simplified steering mechanism, new slimmer plastic with a shorter nose (gets people buying a new sled when it looks different),

Brake mounted to the driveshaft (safer and lowers the CG), slightly more tunnel-clearance on the mountain sleds, new track (5.2 or 6.0), seat and tank the same, rider moved fwd 4 - 6 inches, weight in the 440 lb range.

Ditch the WE Air's in favor of an excellent WE needle coilover for the front shocks... K.I.S.S. no need for any piggybacks etc on the pure off trail RMK models. (Assault mentality excluded)

If you look at Kirk Williamsons sled that Parker Brown took the speed run on at Jackson you will see the over-the-engine steering post that moved the rider fwd about 4 - 6 inches... which I believe will provide more confident climbing and still retain the robust qualities of this chassis..

IQR style steering pyramid that will tie in well with the RAW style running boards and simplify the stirrup area, PLUS make it much stronger.

You could run a XP style steering post if you re design the airbox and drop 10+ lbs out by getting rid of all of the extra linkages etc...

Get rid of the poorly done 3 driver (center pure-extro) in favor of the style of the combo drivers that Factory Polaris is already running on the 08/09 IQR's but on the hydroformed tubular driveshaft. [less the slipper clutch in the middle of course]

At least this is what I'd WANT them to build...

Kirks sled.... check out the steering in the RAW-RMK chassis... opens up possibilities without the need to "re-invent" the wheel.

Wow, I wish I had that on my D7, it would have saved me about 4 hours of pulling my motor to replace my bent post.

I'd really like to see any company stay with a design long enough to perfect it...

How many out there would like a little bit lighter version of the D-9 that actually runs well in all conditions without glitches and consistent performance???

Did you mean Dragon 800 or do you mean an updated 900?

I'd buy a D8 with a lightened IQ chassis, slightly different plastics, all the other updates you mentioned and a motor that has all the bugs worked out of it.

The only thing that makes me want an XP in a way is the lighter weight and the more rider forward design. I don't wanna sacrifice durability though. Make the sled 450 pounds, that's light enough for me.

I don't want the rider moved any further forward on the IQ Raw mountain sled. Might be ok for going straight up hill, but turning on off camber hills and coming back down sucks with the rider so far forward.

I agree!! Until they move the footwells forward to match the current post position, it is an awkward ride downhill off camber, always leaning forward and off balance. Footwells are still in the Edge chassis position as far as I can tell.
