Any one run the new Peak 2.5 yet? What are your opinions on flotation, trenching. traction in the deep and durability ect..? How did you find it compared to the cammo?

Don't think you'll find many Yammis running the Peak unless the switch the drivers to a 2.86 pitch. That's currently the only pitch Camoplast is manufacturing the Peak in.

Christopher has the new Ascent track in his sled. It's a 2.25" lug vs. the Peak's 2.5" lug, but still the same lug design. If he ever gets his back together and we get some more snow, he'll report his opinion of it.

I have been running the Ascent track for the last month on a multitude of rides and conditions. Thus far the track is everything you could ask for in the steep and deep and does well on the trails. Excellent traction, acceleration and braking. Boondocks well, as well, and feel the minimal trenching I am experiencing is rider error more than product i.e. boost is alot of fun!!! :face-icon-small-hap
 
Peak Track

I have been running a Peak 2.5 for a month now on my turbo Nytro. I am happy to share my observations thus far:

1) track flexibility is super with this track. it is folds in half just squeezing it in your hands. this equates to efficient track roll and minimizes the need to run larger diameter wheels for roll efficiency.
2) track weight for the 154" is close to 58 lbs, fully clipped with no holes cut.
3) you need 2.86" drivers. I had Avvid custom cut a set of 7-tooth 2.86 pitch drivers, which is no problem for them. The driver cut is timed perfectly and there is no track/driver rattling any speed.
4) in comparison to the 2.5" lug 3.0 pitch Camo Mountain that I took off the sled, the Peak track is a lot slower. With stock gearing and 15 psi boost at 8,000 feet, 98 mph is the highest speedo readout I have been able to get on hardpack straight away. In contrast, last year's track could easily register 105+ mph on the speedo, and that is with the slightly taller drivers so the actual top speed difference is about 10 mph. That doesn't do the weakness just though as the acceleration between 60-100 mph is slower.
5) holeshot traction of the Peak is phenomenal, it is better than the Camo mountain, it is equal to the challenger extreme
6) in the powder the track lifts the sled on top similar to the softer Camo mountain, and better than the stiffer challenger extreme
7) on powder trail, the Peak leaves the biggest dust cloud behind it you've ever seen. it snow-packs the tunnel, adding lots of weight.
8) on hardpack trail, the Peak roosters a flume of snow chunks ranging from bb size to golf-ball size. it is bad enough that on my last ride, my riding buddy cautioned that i had better get liability insurance because passing a slower rider on the trail could result in face injury. it literally leaves a wall of snow behind it with the deep, stiff, cupped paddles.
9) climbing hills, it grabs hold and just about pulls the handlebars out from your grip--i guess this is selling point! You need transfer control or wheeling ruins your line.

My two bits would be that if you're building a mod yamaha, stay with the camo extreme. The thinner lug tips are a lot more efficient exiting the snow at high track speed, it doesn't throw such a roost.

Thanks for the responce, alot of good points made. Im thinking im going to buy the camo extreme. It worked great on my apex and this is willl be going on my rmk
