OT I have ran my 800r from 1200ft to 9500ft and it runs best at 8100 - 8200 at all elevations. yours feels like it runs better to you at 7900 because your clutching is working better there. Get a setup in it that spins the motor 8200 and shifts instead of just revs and you will get off this low RPM/torque crap... The 800r needs to run above 8100 or you are losing track speed. Mine pulls 8200 initial...settles into 8150ish and I never see it go below 8050 on a climb..usually never below 8100.....and it flat out rips.

Awww... the infamous 9333 elevation. Funny how the altimeter in the X's reads the same elevations. I see that one alot when I'm around 9000 feet.

Red eye,

From me I can tell you my engagement rpm is about 4000 to 4200. And it is a much smoother engagement then stock. Also I am hitting about per the RPM gage 8100. After talking to Supertorquer it seems there may be some variability in the real versus what is the number displayed.

snowrdr,
I agree the numbers are out mine seems to run good but tach says 8345rpm????? I havent checked it yet because the thing was pulling so good.

Don't get like that OT, i'm going to try it your way and then make an opinion. I've worked on sleds for almost 30 years but you can always learn from others. Super Torquers agree with your rpm theory and they designed it' so me going to try it first before I blow your horn.

At what RPM do the Rave valves fully open, I was under the impression you had to be over 8000 RPM for full rave valve opening. Here in the flat land a world different from yours I prefer to clutch my sled to initially pull 7800-7900 then creep up to the 8100 always seems to accellerate and pull harder using the tq the motor has.

Ya on GPS I was actually at ~9500 feet, but I noticed it never would go above 9333....It was fairly accurate around 9000 +/- 200 feet. Same as around here...I ride from 4500 - 7000

I've seen 9523 or something like that but I'm guessing I'm closer to 9700-9800, have to agree with the +/- 200 from messing around with my gps.

As far as RPM's mine seems to run the best around 8200 on the tach, suppose I should put the digi tach in the display and see what it's reading.

OT, what does your primary look like for shift out at the end of the day? With my DJ kit I'm well into the OD with my marker line gone to the last 1/4-1/8 inch from the top of the sheaves. I know we don't get into OD when climbing but I'm asking as far as overall performance (trail to hill and back)Track speeds as good as any I've seen posted here.
