New Clutch on the 25 858s!!!

IMG_20240228_145304968.jpg
I have a hardcore dirt bike friend that beats the holy dog crap out of his bikes. He threw a leg over this once, it rode him :)

Now why didn't they do this ?

Special thxs to IDSpud for helping me find this, there's hope :)

Why would the factory not do that? The roller looks like a much cheaper part then the sliders they pulled out. There must be a reason. Plus it can only roll on one side. Looks like the sliders are sliding up both sides of the tower.

They might have gotten that idea from the pdrive that does roll to one side.
It would be nice to hear from someone that has it and is t peddling it?

It should roll on both towers, just more force to one side.

I'm calling around to see if the locals have it.

Back to last nights post Hawk, you mentioned over rev, but left out the at engagement part….
Simple lower engagement is switch to 225 spring, can also play with one or two washer options.

That roller thing makes way too much sense! And no, it can't roll on both surfaces at the same time. The roller surface will be going the "wrong way" in relation to the opposite tower face that it is contacting. The roller has to be undersized just enough that it doesn't touch both at the same time. Maybe that's why Cat used the buttons to it can contact both towers at one time.

I love to watch these videos because I like learning things and did he say rollerblading??! Awesome, I’m pretty sure rollerblades went out of style back in the late 90s. Just saying.😂😂

OK I’ll stick to the Polaris side, because I have no clue how Arctic cat things work, except for you, put gogo juice in, a spark ignites the fuel mixed with air and causes the piston to go down and then turn the track to turn and off you go 😜

Serious note, can you put ethanol free fuel in other sleds still?

Just pointing out what's out there, if not things don't change and the same old stuff keeps being reused.

A few thousand miles and that clutch will more then likely be toast, short lived clutch that has already been altered, same problems new year.

This is why I went after this Alpha, while the majority want two rails I want one ski.

You have no idea how difficult and exhausting a sled is until you learn how to ride one ski.

Then you realize how all that new technology still sucks :)

The Alpha so far is the best candidate for this.

I'm not brand loyal, maybe that's the problem. What you don't know won't hurt you supposedly.

The good ol’ EXO sled. Weird suckers and don’t think I would ever want to try one but I do run EXO backcountry backpacks 👊🏻

Old thread, but P-drive actually rolls on both surfaces with 2 angled rollers that are tightened into contact by centrifugal force.

BRP has a patent on 2 rollers within a quadrant or 90 degrees I think it was.

A single roller would be too noisy on a 4-stroke sled (Yamaha) where the spline coupler PTO end has to be damped to lessen the clutch noise.

Seen that video on the adapt last season- just not a lot of feedback from the small few that went this route...
I do know that it is a pain getting that keeper bolt out.
People didn't like banging on the spider with a slid hammer

Even though it's still kind of a chunk it's got a lot of options, ever watch it work :) it's an aggressive sob.

I haven't put any time on this one yet but I'm expecting some of the BRP characteristics out of this kit.

I'm not sure why this has turned into a big deal yet.

Please share some feed back on this when you get some time on it if this is in your ride?

I'm hoping to drop engagement for starters without spending for the latest and greatest kit :)

Drag racing and nimbleness don't work together unless you just like mowing things over and crossing your fingers.

Downside is you won't be able to do this on an 858 steel spider clutch.

Without the steel's inertia you will see degraded clutch life and rougher running. Maybe that can be accepted though by some. Don't know how they would handle warranty.

The pin is threaded, make a sleeve that roughly fits over hole in the side of the spider. Then tighten a nut against that sleeve pulling the pin out. Threaded rod with a nut welded on the end and another nut partway down to tighten against the sleeve.

Good point, that's an opportunity that went to the way side a little to fast, bummer.

Warranty wise, I'm beyond that with this disposable era crap. I'm better off screwing it up the first time and redo the second time :)

I get lucky once in a blue moon.

Still have one of these bat crap in the belfry thingies that I'm going threw now.IMG_20240924_213612871.jpg
