New Boots? Need your help

i need new snowmobiling boots this year and i am really leaning towards some hmk boots but ive heard alot of people complain about them. what the best boot out there to ride in?

I've ran the hmk pro boas for the last three years... love them... put them through a beating every year.. still warm still waterproof...
All other 8 guys i normally ride with all bought klims and others... all but one have switched to the hmk.. They are a superior boot..

I have the HMK pro boa's as well and absolutely love them. You can't go wrong. You will never, ever get cold in them. I have stepped into a creek bed and filled my boot with water and still stayed warm the rest of the day. Wet, but warm.

This topic has been hotly debated

If you have money and want a pure sled boot go KLIM , HMK

On the other end if you are frugal and want more than your money's worth get government closeout BATA Mickey Mouse Bunny boots as used by the average working eskimo way up north for $30.

I wore some old worn out cheap Soloman snowboarding boots last season. I came home with soaked feet and feeling cold almost every ride.

I just purchased some HMK Highmark Pro's. I'll let you know how they feel after I get them broken in. These things are STIFF.

Stiff is good, especially once you get used to them. It will make you a better rider.

another vote for the HMK Pro's
using them 2 seasons now and still holding strong
for similar to a snowboard boot, which suits me fine

When I first got mine I thought they were too stiff I could barely walk now I dont even think about it.

Love my HMK Pro Boa's. I have been using mine for the past 3 years and I have no complaints. The key to keeping your feet warm and dry in them is wearing the proper socks. Thin Ultimax socks from Cabela's have worked great for me. Your head and feet sweat more than you would think.

How does them being stiff make you a better rider? Just curious.

These feel like moon boots. hahaha.

Kinda the same way that stiff ski and snowboard boots make you able to control your skis and board better. Not to mention they will protect your feet and ankles better than a softer boot. With a stiffer boot, when you put forward pressure on the tongue (shins) it transfers that energy into downward pressure at the toe. So in essence leaning into the boot can help initiate turns and pressure on the running boards. Hope this makes a little sense. It does in my head, but may be complete jibberish to others.

hey thanks everybody for the advice. i think im gonna go with the hmk pro boa. Ill just have to work the stiffness out like motocross boots to get them comfy i guess:D

They really don't take more that a ride or two to "break in".

A huge +1 for the ultimax socks. I just buy some good ultimax ski socks from a local sporting goods retailer. About $16 a pair, but very worth it. I personally like a lighter weight sock. One that is about as thick as a good cotton sock. Sometimes I see people putting on too thick of socks or too many socks trying to layer their socks or thinking the more the better. If you sock is too thick or you wear too many it can make your boots too tight and cut off circulation and end up with cold feet regardless of how good of boots and socks you have.:beer;

had great luck with my Klim boots, always warm and dry. The running boards on the 09 m8 tore the crap out of the bottoms last year but think ill get another season on them

Baffin boots with the BOA lace system..

Klim Adrenaline, about as bulky as a workboot with similar stiffness. I tried the Sno-Cross style but hated them. My onle peeve with the Klims is the liner doesn't come out.
