New BCA Products

Came across these new products from BackCountryAccess and just wanted to get some thoughts and discussion. Particularly about the Avy Pack!
I know there is always the argument on "you can't put a price on your life"
But I can put a price on how I choose to ride and try to mitigate or avoid danger. 1K for a pack was just too expensive for me. These ones retailing at $499. Can be re-used and deployed on SCUBA AIR. Now that sounds like a product up my ally. Just want some thoughts.

Also this new 3 antenna digital beacon......I have one of the older trackers, before the pouch even. Just wondering what the difference really would be.

Is this really the first 3 antenna beacon, or does Pieps or Ortovox have one??

was just checkin those out the other day.....for that kind of money and functionality....I'm most likely in.....trouble is they are say we will have to pre order to get one or they will be hard to come by for the season. :)

I think I would invest in a couple of these. Really like the fact that I can get them recharged down the road at the local Scuba Shop.:face-icon-small-hap
1K was a bit much for me. Always wondered if these packs made some peeps ride more reckless?

i dont think it would change the way i ride just makes me feel a little better about if an avy did happen i would have one more thing to try and save me. hopefully its 500 you spend but never need to use

mitigating risk? Are you kidding me? Please

So, that means, no sidehilling while all the snow hawks cut across everything we are riding in Bloomington. Please, just stop being so cheap and buy the damn thing. Just tell her you are doin it and get over it...:D:D

As for the pack, I think that price is doable. I would really like to check one out in person before having to pre-order one. I wonder if the snow show will be too late to either buy one or order one. Santa would have to be on it early!

J, BTW I have a very nice used Boss hardtail that would love to be on your sled;)
The Rev is retired, gonna run an M8

The BCA Float 30 can be filled on SCUBA air; however, after it has been deployed there is a little more involved than simply filling the canister. There are several O-Rings that need to be checked and possibly replaced to ensure the canister holds the air pressure needed. The nice thing is, the canister has a pressure gauge on it.

The BCA tracker 2 is not the first 3 antennae beacon, there are several other beacons out there with 3 antennae (Pieps, Pulse, etc).
However, the BCA tracker 2 will be a 3 antennae beacon with a lower price than the other 3 antennae beacons.
The difference between the regular tracker and the tracker 2 is the T2 has a faster processor, it shows when there are multiple burials, and it eliminates the "spike" readings that occur when the beacon is between flux lines.
In essence, the Tracker 2 will be faster and easier to use than the regular tracker.

Neither of the products have actually gone to production yet. The latest word from BCA is that the Tracker 2 is expected to be released in November and the Float 30 is scheduled to be released in December. We will have both products at our Booth at the SLC show for demonstration and pre-order.

Good to know, Thanks:face-icon-small-hap

Ron, I am sure you will hit just as many trees with this pack as you did without it! ;)

LMAO. You're probably right. Could deploy the bag for a softer landing though.

Actually, I was thinking you should wear one when Hector is following you.:p

You guys end up riding double so much you could launch him right off the back when his Mexican Sausage gets a little too close............. But I doubt you would pull the cord.
