I've been mulling over doing the injectors on my 2000 7.3.

It's in the shop today going through the glow plugs.
Is this a good time to do injectors?

They want $1700 for the 80+hp hi-performance injectors.
There is a $1600 core charge.
That means it's $100 when it's all done, right? ;) LOL

What are the downsides to doing these injectors?

I realize my full expense is 1700 + 1600 core charge. I was trying to be funny.

Thanks Sean.

Gomers has a great rep here in Msla. I'm going to stick with local.

Shop LOCAL!!!

IT the BEST way..

OO and YEa only cost you 100$$ lol

Scott,

The only thing the injectors will do for you is give the duty cycle to upgrade your chip. Also you will want to do some work with the HPOP, and possibly the turbo. Just adding a higher flowing injector without adding a chip will not do much other than leave you some "headroom" for future use. Personally if you are not going to do anymore performance stuff to it, I would save the money and put it towards soemthing else.

I work at a Ford Dealership and times 2 ^^^^^^^^^

I have a 70hp chip in it right now.
Been running that since about 2002 or so along with AirAid/K&N pod filter and a full 4" exhaust.

1. You don't have to pay the core charge, unless you are keeping your old injectors. And they won't do you any good sitting in your garage.

2. I quit using Gomer's years ago because of injection pump issues, hope they've gotten better.

3. This will fix your injectors....:face-icon-small-win http://www.chevrolet.com/pages/open/default/future/silveradohd.do

1. I'm not keeping my cores. I got that all figgered out already.

2. Tell me about injector pump issues.....

3. The pics on that page aren't opening.

Ford 7.3l dont have injector pump unless its early 94 or later. Yours is newer I would assume.
I would look a powerstroke nation and look and Rosewood diesel, Beans diesel, Swamps, Unlimited Diesel. I sure would not be buying them for 1700$

Rosewood has a DIY kit that is cheap and if there nothing wrong with your injector you just want more then that would be a good cheap way to go. You would also benfit from a newer update chip/programmer. They have come along way since 2002.

I sent him my injectors and had him upgrade them to stage 2 for about 800. I'm at the limit I can go with my truck before I worry about throwing a rod. Dang PMR rods.

What year is your truck and how many miles on it?

Mike

How hard is it to change injectors?
I haven't messed with that.
Can I do my own without having to pull a bunch of stuff apart? How hard are they to get to?

2000 f-250 super duty. 138k miles.
