need help on tnitro diet, 639lbs and want much less

mine only tips the scale at 20 pounds less and it has a wack of light weight mods done to it . every sleds diffrent , i dont ride my xp and expect it to climb chutes in deep pow or even go up hill really . my nytro has a narrow 38 inch front end that makes it feel quite a bit lighter but the 174 makes it wanna push strait in the conners . if youre looking for a light feeling sled ride with 300 hp that wont wheelie over back words youre outta luck , its work to hang on to a sled like that .

600 lbs is a realistic and attainable goal. If you do lots of reading you'll get lots of opinions but in the end you have the weight to deal with with a T Nytro, no way around it without spending stupid dollars, making it feel light is all about setup. If the sled already has a Tsled skid then there's not much room for improvement back there. The majority of the excess weight on the stock tunnel is in the drop brackets which should have been changed when the Tsled skid went in. There will be at most only another 10 lbs on the table over the stock tunnel believe me I've weighed all the parts thats all there is. If the sled has the stock sway bar ditch that and if you can find a 38" front end that'll make it handle looser as well. I've seen MCX Nytros on the scales and with a bunch of lightweight parts they all come in around 600 lbs with the stock fuel tank. Do some more research on all the handling and front end threads out there I think you'll be able to make the sled feel lighter by addressing that issue first.

M5

M5 what is yours going to weigh or what does it weigh if your done with it?

have a buddy with the 300 plus mcx 2010 nitro, we found cracks and ripples in the stock tunnel only after 600 km and sled came in at 639lbs full of fuel

he finds it to heavy and wants to put it on a diet, we called c3 about a carbon fiber chassie, but keven has no plans on doing them for a while

would like some info on the best tunnel, any other light weight parts that work good, goal is to get it under 600, maybe even the 575 if possible, also front end seams very wide, any narrowing kits

thanks for the info

I have two 2008 Nytros. One is Supercharged and one is not. The one that is not has alot of weight savings the same as you read in these posts and weighed on actual scales with half tank of fuel went 541 lbs. Supercharged Nytro has a few lightweight mods (BB front end, ported track, smaller battery) but runs 630 with half tank fuel.

I am putting a Timbersled skid in it tomorrow so that will help some, but I really need to lighten it some more. Hard to get on it in powder after riding the lighter Nytro. Hard for me to believe the Supercharger would add alot of weight. ANybody weigh an MPI kit before install?

Hey NOOB guy if this is whinning you can kiss me where the sun does not shine...lololol.

stingray, you must not frequent fred's crying and whining and bitching about yammis threads. He's a notorious cry baby about anything but the shi! between his legs and nobodys likes the dude. I own a tnytro, so you can put your sun shine away for now.

I put the timbersled skid in last night. Sled now weighs 583 with half a tank of fuel. I changed my mind on the aftermarket tunnel though as I have strength concerns running an MPI stage 2 supercharger.

So the biggest weight changes were,
Timbersled skid with Fox Floats
Barkbuster front end with Fox Floats
Battery
ported track
Aftermarket can
Radiator delete

If your 640 full of fuel you are probably lighter than 80% of the nytros on the mountain....

I really like my non boosted lightweight Nytro. Made it hard to ride the supercharged Nytro with the stock skid. Stock skid weighed 70 lbs!!!!! I put the 35 lb Timbersled skid that is tha same as in the NA Nytro and I can't wait to try it now. Hope it will roll over like the NA Nytro now.

not sure, the sled is a 2010, and it came from factory with a timbersled skid, and iceage rails, the tunnel is wrinked just ahead of the brackets

will order dans arms this week for the sled, that some nice weight savings, was told the skidoo battery is also the same weight as the light weight battery??

thanks for all the info guys

Fred, is Mike running the timbersled drop brackets? If so that's why his tunnel is bending/cracking. They're junk. Get some of chads

your info is not needed, so stay out of this thread please, you want to ride sometime pm me, i am in...

I ran into that with my SC Apex was all light weight and easy handling added the SC and the whole sled changed.

Extra weight in the nose but most of all it is the rotating mass in the nose with that SC spinning at warp 9 that acts like a gyroscope that keeps the sled going straight and makes it hard to turn. With all the extra power the whole drive train spins faster too, all that rotating mass again makes the sled harder to turn under power.

I am getting used to it but it is not the playful sled it was before.

bwahahahahhahaa, freaking cry baby. thanx for the bad rep on your cry baby thread. We already invited you to go riding a few times with you tucking your shi! between your legs and no reply. thanx for the invite though, but I don't think you would show anyways.

my brother's nitro we found cracks and ripples in the stock tunnel he put a cr tunnel on. No more problems
as for the heavy and hard to control part. he found putting a bigger track on helped did not trench as bad made it easier to control.he has a 174/16 wide on it but he is 6'6 280lbs the control problem has more to do with centrifugal force (75lbs track at 100 miles an hour )then actual weight of sled. my brother took 50+lbs off his nitro he would not do it again he would just put a bigger track and adjustable handle bar riser on for leverage.

WOW, The Timersled skid really did wonders for this sled. Amazing change, I cannot recommend it enough. Heavy Apex feel is gone.
