need help on tnitro diet, 639lbs and want much less

have a buddy with the 300 plus mcx 2010 nitro, we found cracks and ripples in the stock tunnel only after 600 km and sled came in at 639lbs full of fuel

he finds it to heavy and wants to put it on a diet, we called c3 about a carbon fiber chassie, but keven has no plans on doing them for a while

would like some info on the best tunnel, any other light weight parts that work good, goal is to get it under 600, maybe even the 575 if possible, also front end seams very wide, any narrowing kits

thanks for the info

The problem is once you start light weight'n her the reliablity starts going south. At 300 HP weight is not an issue unless your stuck. Put a Zbros front end on her with some good shocks and it will handle a little better. Other than that, if you want light buy a Polaris RMK Pro 800. Thats a nice sled !!! LOL

Cr makes a carbon fiber tube tunnel now. Not sure on weight loss. Battery is a good place to loose alot. Headlight removal. Need to know what's all done to it now to better help you on where to start.

Skid, Tunnel, front suspension, Air shocks, lightwieght battery and holder, head light delete, radiator delete, delete yamaha gauges, seat. Just to name a few things, be better to know more about the sled.

the sled is a stock 162 with a 2.5 track, it came with a timbersled rear skid, from what i have seen its a heavy front end and a workout compared to the etec he also has

you would think there is some easy ways to lose weight, the few hrs i had it out, i also thought it was a heavy machine compared to the doos

as for tunnel, what is the lightest out there

Cr tunnel with rad delete, light weight battery, dimond s sub frame, chromoly steering post, ti a arms . That should be good for 30-35 lbs off the front and another 10-15lbs off the back.

600 lbs is a realistic and attainable goal. If you do lots of reading you'll get lots of opinions but in the end you have the weight to deal with with a T Nytro, no way around it without spending stupid dollars, making it feel light is all about setup. If the sled already has a Tsled skid then there's not much room for improvement back there. The majority of the excess weight on the stock tunnel is in the drop brackets which should have been changed when the Tsled skid went in. There will be at most only another 10 lbs on the table over the stock tunnel believe me I've weighed all the parts thats all there is. If the sled has the stock sway bar ditch that and if you can find a 38" front end that'll make it handle looser as well. I've seen MCX Nytros on the scales and with a bunch of lightweight parts they all come in around 600 lbs with the stock fuel tank. Do some more research on all the handling and front end threads out there I think you'll be able to make the sled feel lighter by addressing that issue first.

I don't think you'll ever get it to feel like an ETec, very similiar chassis just much heavier.

I have the Timbersled skid on mine it is setup right now for climbing and keeping the nose down. With it set like that it handles very very heavy and steers hard but the nose never comes up. Might want to play with that setup. Supposedly with the ZBroz or Skinz forward position front suspension the Nytro sidehills and holds a side hill much better

Do the usual easy weightloss changes ie battery an shocks , you have the rest done,, an get a narrow z-broz front end, or just narrow your skis up an soften the front shocks an ride the shiet out of it.. after awhile you shouldnt notice the weight with all those ponnies.. It will never be near a 2 smoke lightweight feel..
I ride my kids xp and buddies 2 smokes an i always cant wait to get back on my nytro! I let a buddy try it last trip in revvy an hes been on revs, cats etc all his sledding days an he got off it an said best sled hes ever riddin an went shoppin for a tnytro lol.. once you get used to the weight an set it up its nite an day

Scott @ diamond s had his titanium 162 nitro down to 465 lbs wet with 5 gallons of fuel! Ti throughout 162 ez ryde 300 plus HP all day long

thanks guys i will pass it on

as for getting use to the weight, not sure if i can comprehend that...

we will start with some ideas here and go on, the sled just sits in the garage now and never gets used, somewhat sad

thanks again

terra alps tunnel was 20lbs lighter then the stk tunnel on my vector.

1) Alternative impact titanium a-arms: 10lb weight loss = 900 bucks and Dan stands by these 1 million %-----I love them.

2) Yamaha WR450 Battery: 10 lb weight loss, $120 I think. I have had one for 3 years (keep it on a trickle charger)

3) Yamaha light weight suspension:18lb weight loss from stock 2010 SE = 900bucks and so far (2 seasons in)---I like it.

4) Rad delete: 4lb loss, and $= free.

there is 42lbs for ya, however more can be obtained with other parts (i.e. shocks, seat, steering post & front clips). I don't think you will get much from a tunnel except for strength because after you take all the exhaust crap off of the stock tunnel----the tunnel itself doesn't weigh much.

Fred, is Mike running the timbersled drop brackets? If so that's why his tunnel is bending/cracking. They're junk. Get some of chads

big mouth... threw me a good offer and its yours

we are start with a few mods

All your posts of you crying and crying I should be able to get a smoking deal on the sled ill give you 3500 bucks and take that heavy pig off your hands. Ill even throw in an extra 10 g to make you stop crying and posting on the yammis. Deal??? Lmao
