Snow checking eitther a 2015 Pro rmk 155 or a Assault 155.We ride primarly east coast and a trip out west once a year.I am torn between the two I am coming of a summit.I like the fact that the assault has a chain case I have read many of nightmares about the belt drive system.Help.

Neither. You want an RMK with the extra cooler and the chain case. Everything else is the same as the pro on a snow check. Only reason to get an assault is if you wanted a wide front end which very few mountain riders would I'm not sure about for back east. Still think the RMK stance at the widest ski setting would be more comfortable all around.

This from a guy that had a 12 rmk, 13 pro and 14 assault. Get the RMK this year its an easy decision.

I agree with jakey..

Go with the RMK (not the PRO RMK) and you will have the chaincase and a better cooler... plus a more durable overstructure and an alumium rear bumper at about $1000 less than the PRO. Same shocks, same A-arms, same colors, same handlebars and controls, same running boards.

To the OP,
I would recommend you snowcheck a RMK LE also and load it up with the options also. The added cooling is worth it IMO. This is what I'll be doing if my '12 Assault sells.

If you're only considering the Assault or the Pro, then I'd say go with the Pro and put the clicker shocks on it. :face-icon-small-coo

We ride east coast (as far east in NA as you can go) and went with a pair of 600 pro 155" - only time cooling is an issue is slow on packed trails - snow packed onion bag on tunnel helps. Even with a bit of loose snow cooling is fine - also thought about a clip on flap extension to help in marginal conditions.

Well, I am going to go out of convention and recommend an 015 PRO X 800 Switchback. One can always rent a dedicated steep and deep sled out west (even try different brands) if need be, but for the rest of it this sled will cover the bases. Hang on. 550iq

Plus with the switchback, you get the new 800ho! Then you can let all the western guys know how that new motor does, get us all excited for when it makes it to the rmk! :face-icon-small-hap
