So I have the avalanche tools, avy classes and first aid/cpr training(through my work requirement). I have a cpr mask in my coat pocket and I am looking for a first aid/survival kit. There appearers that there is a need for a snowmobile related kit. I have found some through what I consider to be non-snowmobile friendly sites, but they seem to be fairly large and bulky.
Band-aids and gauze kits are good(what I have) but are pretty minimal in care for what can happen with a sled in the backcountry. I am looking too piece one together keeping it to what I consider to be a complete "petite" size that will fit in my pack. But I wish there was a pre assembled kit through a motorsport supportive site. Is there one?
Here is what I am considering, any additions and/or subractions of what would be essential for us. Trying not to bring everything only essentials.

Whistle
Solar blanket
Very petite LED light
Matches
Tampons
Chainsaw pull saw
Heavy duty tin foil(4' length)
Cone style coffee filter

CPR mask
Iodine/Alcohol wipes
Anti-biotic creme
Aspirin,Antihistamine,Ibuprophen
gauze 2"x4yrds, 1"x4yrds
Waterproof tape 1"x10yrds
band aids regular,large butterflys
celox

Maybe try to include in your first aid kit:
-3 different sizes of 0ral airways. If you need to do CPR these are a must to keep the airway open while using your CPR pocket mask.
-Six triangular bandages. Good for holding dressings in place, making slings and applying support and pressure.
-If you have room, a cervical collar is a great thing to include.
-Crazy Glue, for closing wounds, instead of butterflies or stitches.

Try stopping by a local ambulance station or firehall and tell them what you're trying to put together. They can give you some great ideas and if you bring em a dozen donuts they may even give you some items for your kit. :D

Just look at some of the first responder kits they come pretty well stocked and most contain these items

Aerostich sells kits. Even has a book that tells you how to do stuff.

for sure pick up one of these I am myself. Sam Splint. http://www.rei.com/product/743236

moldable, compact, and can be reused. Not bad for 25 bucks and it beats taping sticks together for a splint.

I like Kendall Wetproof Tape. We use it at work and it is good good stuff. I just throw a 1 inch roll in my gear.

Get some trauma scissors and a few others. I also have some rheostats and clamps. Work good for working on sleds as well as people.

good thread, I've been trying to think what I need to add for first aid. I'd really like to find a class that had basic back country first aid.

GOOD pain meds! If you have a broken arm, leg, back.....You want something GOOD to take the pain away so you can ride/be hualed out of the hills. Eric
