Need advice on a Tnytro

I am looking for a change. I have been riding my 07m8 with lots of goodies now since 2/08. I love the sled and it takes me pretty much anywhere I want to go and I am going to keep it regardless. I am not overly impressed with the new Pros or the XMs. The only sled I have ever rode that wowed me was a HM pump gas Pro and that was mostly the smoothness of the power.
I am looking I to buy a boosted 4 stroke. I would like to buy a cat but they seem to be really heavy and plagued with drive train problems. So my next choice appears to be a nytro as I really don't want to spend the cash to trick out a new viper.
My riding is a even balance of trees, meadows and climbing (but not chute slaying). I am a good sized boy at 6 foot 230.

I know the nytro are heavy but I have never got a change to ride one so I need some help.

What sled do they most compare to handling wise? Non yamaha.

Does the 3 inch forward a arms make that much of a difference?

Is the factory Post 2010 rear suspension ok??

Supercharger or turbo?

180 or 270 based upon my listed riding style? I need to be able to ride the trees.

Any other must haves??

Thank for the advice.

Talk to Christopher on Snowest he is giving his Supercharged 2010 Nytro away basically. Really!!! nice sled with all the bells and whistles that you would ever want for less then 8000. he has well over 20 grand invested they just have no resale value with the new vipers out. there are a ton of pretty nice nytro's out there cheap. Most would say don't waste your time on the nytro and buy a viper.

In the trees, they nytro's are a handful because the majority of the weight is over the front skies. With your size you should have no problem riding one you just have to realize that you are tossing around +50 of weight over any of the 2 strokes regardless. The 3-4 inch forward front ends do make a major improvement over stock but they don't completely fix the bad front end geometry of the Nytro. You just cant get away from the weight of the engine over the front skies. Think if it as driving a bar stool. all the weight is up high and directly over the skies. as mentioned moving the skies helps greatly. they have a tendency to have heavy steering because of that reason. A lot of people pull the limit strap up to give the sled a better approach angle but in doing so they increases steering effort. I believe the nytro's have about a 17 degree approach angle verse a any good mountain sled which are in the range of 15 degrees. this means of course they have a tendency to trench of you are not careful

the rear skid of the 2010 or newer is way better then the older Nytro's mostly because of +30 lbs weight savings. the OEM Track sucked on all years but most people have already swapped them out for a powerclaw or CE.

they are decent sleds and will last a long time even under boost. Buying a used one you don't have to add a whole lot more because most people have already added the parts that you need. The 3 things that made the biggest difference to my sled was the Track, Steering relocator (they all need one), and the 3 inch forward front end. the rest was just trying to save weight. Most people would compare them to a tank as far as how they ride compared to other sleds. I rode a stock cat 4stroke 1100T and it rode lighter then my nytro even with all the light weight stuff on my nytro but again i have an older 08

My advice would be to ride one before you purchase one, my brother in law absolutely shreds on his Nytro but he has been riding it since 08. He has a 180 turbo and one with the 240 supercharger and prefers the turbo for more technical stuff. I can't ride it, it doesn't compare to any other sled I have been on. I went from a 2010 M8 to the new Viper and it handles like a normal two stroke, I am learning to love the boosted power now that the oil leak has been fixed.

I have a 180 t nytro. I think they are the best way to go for tree riding. Power is much more predictable that the higher hp sleds that have the head shims installed to allow them to run pump gas with that much power. I have done a lot to mine including the skinz front end and I like the sled a lot. It is by no means perfect but it works well

If it were me I would look for a MCX rear mount turbo 240 or 270 kit gas and go, hands down the best kit for simplicity. I like the Impulse kit as well but I could never get used to the seat but if you want instant on power there's nothing better. The rear mount moves the weight to the back spreading it over the sled the trade off is lag. Superchargers make the front heavy Nytro even more front heavy not where you want to be which is why you can't give one away. DO NOT buy a Trail tank, carry spare gas on the rear. Riding a Nytro is not like any other sled and with a rear mount turbo its different again, you need to keep the turbo spooled up in the trees, it's not hard but you do need to think about it. The thing that many riders struggle with is how the sled tips. It'll seem stiff to pull over then it just goes, this is where throttle is your friend. It helps to ride the Nytro aggressively or it will wear you out, show it who's boss. The Nytro loves a fresh line. There are HUGE differences to be had with setup. I've ridden lots of Nytros and I've never found one that I like better than mine but that's what all my buddies say about their own sleds as well.

There is a learning curve for sure and they are heavy but I usually go all day now with no stucks but it took a while to get there. Everyone raved about the XP when it came out but I hated that sled still do, I can't stand the old M1000 my buddy has, total POS. I haven't ridden an XM yet but I should get the chance soon. After to many chopper rides we totally gave up on Polaris. The closest sled I can think of would be like an 06 Rev, I could be wrong.

There are some smoking deals out there its just a matter of finding the right one. IMO the Viper is going to suffer the same financial fate in a season or two being the red headed step child of Yamaha. Basically the Nytros have bottomed out, much less and they are parts value only so the risk is minimal IMO.

I have a Push turbo with the boost turned up to 9lbs plus and it works great. I just put a Timbersled skid and Mountaintech front end on it with a 3" track. We ride trees and boondock most of the time. The chassis and ergos are different but once you adjust to it they work really well. Before this I rode a SC Apex and 900 Cat and we have an M8 for my wife...the Nytro is different than all of them.
