Beauty set-up

This was an excellent build-up on the Mountain Tamer Rear Skid... I have been researching to do the rear of my 2010 RMK600.... this has really helped out... Tks.. SERLY:face-icon-small-win
 
Make sure you check the length on the fromt end before triming the back end so you don't end up to short.

Put the hyfax on the rails and start a couple of threads on the retainer screw into the rail... Mark the Hyfax and remove it for cutting to length
 
I have already installed and screwed them to the rails b4 noticing that they were too long...DUH. I noticed on the stock skid that the hyfax are shorter than the rails but on other makes the hyfax extend beyond the rails. I was going to cut them off about an inch from the rails or even with the rails,but maybe I should slide them back a little and trim them shorter to match the stock ones.

Suggestions?
 
Well,definately having some probs with the TS install on the xp. The shock shaft for the front arm is too big,actually I think the bushing are too small as the shaft will not fit into the bushings in the shock. Both shafts are the same size on the micrometer and the rear arm assembly went fine. Will have to sand the bushings for now and get Allen to send me some new ones.

Also, the stock rear wheel kit does not work with the Track adjusters mounted on the inside of the rails...right side ok...left side not.I understood that it would be ok. I know this is a Polaris thread but just listing my probs.
 
Post up some pix of your concerns.

Pics work best... then give a follow up call on Monday.

I had a little tightness on the front bushing myself... discovered I mashed it in a bit too hard and it was cocked in the shock eye when I installed the bushings...

Are you using a liberal amount low temp synthetic grease on assembly??

Was able to sand the bushings a little...greased the shaft and got it in...now it is a little wiggly,but no more than the rear shaft. Once I got it all bolted and torqued the wiggliness went away. I am sure it will be ok. WIGGLINESS...thats a funny word...lol:lol:
 
so mh, after a while on the skid, any thoughts? Still do it again? Change anything? Any problems?
 
I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

In fact I did.... It is going into my new sled build.

I'll also be installing this complete skid into a couple of turbo PRO builds for others in January.

Problems with the skid... I'd Anodize the rails if I were to do it again.... this or ANY brand skid

The big benefits for me is how fast it jumps on top of the snow and keeps you in control on steep climbs... Love the quick adjustment from climbing to hard boondocking.
