MY PREDICTION FOR THE NEXT DOO MOUNTAIN CHASSIS

If you have the tools engine r&r is easy, you just need the lifting arm, eye bolt that screws into the spark plug hole and a hoist, makes your life easy. these tools are shown in the service manual.

CJ...thank you for that (sincerely).

I have the manual and a hoist and spark plug lift... this sled has electric start (2010 800 X summit 163") ... still have to "snake" it out the side.

Having a removable pyramid would make the job easier but more engineering for BRP.

For me... It is cool to see the different engineering approaches in the different brands.

I wasn't far off

Bodywork, rear skid and steering.

Just not the rear skid I was thinking of...

Would have BANKED on a coilover rear skid and ditch the torsion.

.

mountainhorse you did get one wish, sounds like you can remove all the plastic including the guage/headlight assy, in less than 2 min. now if the pyramidal frame is removable there will be easy access to the engine bay.

Worked on the XP again last night... I had some "REALLY???" moments.

Like ... pulling pins from regulator connectors ... cant you make a separate connector for that?

Oil pump cable access... c'mon... really??

Lower coolant hose... getting it around the motor mount bracket??

Pull the cover on the chaincase to drain it and have the oil go everywhere...Really, cant you put in a simple drain plug?

In general... I am IMPRESSED with the build quality of the BRP products... IMO... they need to make them easier to service... I'm professional mechanic.. with good tools and techniques...and the factory service manual... I can get the job done... but It could be made a lot simpler for both the consumer and BRP techs alike.

IMO.. Ski Doo could drop a lot of weight from the sled by "stepping back a bit" and re-designing the whole picture... simplify/streamline the systems and installations.

Just my 2 cents.

never thought the oil pump cable was that big a issue... changed it once on the 08 with 8000plus km, took a few hrs and good to go

yes it could be eaisier, but not a big thing, as for excess weight, your talking the heavy stock muffler and foam...lol takes thirty minutes to lose 25lbs...

keep in mind we come with a real track, and a fuel tank of a days ride, and power to get you some where...:face-icon-small-hap

and that stupid rivit right in front of the regulator, i always seem to cut myself on that little f'er unplugging the regulator. and tring to route all the hoses and wiring around the intake/mag side motor mount is a pain also.
