My next truck will absolutley %100 no questions asked be a Ford

Greetings,

Ford and Navistar have parted company which brings to an end the Powerstroke plat form. The next generation Ford diesel engine developed in-house (Ford) is slated to be called a Scorpion V-8, 6.7L displacement. Current HP/Torque numbers are forecasted to be 400/730, respectively. Mated to a new 6 Speed automatic transmission.

Just wondering how the hell do you people ever expect Chrysler or GM to pay back any of the money that was given to them if everyone quits buying them? You all calll them Obama motors. How much say do you really think that the government is going to have in those companies with only 10% ownership? Absolutely none! How long do you really expect Ford to last if GM and Chrsler go out of business? Do you really think that 1 American auto mfr could stand alone against the rest of the world? Especially the auto makers that make a much better product than we do. I would bet that at least 50% of the people who drive GM or Chrysler made vehicles would buy a foreign made car or truck to replace their GM or Chrysler vehicle if those 2 were out of business. I know I would. I am brand loyal and if my brand goes out of business I will be driving Toyotas for their quality and longevity over a Ford anyday

Skidoorules,
I respectfully disagree with just about everything in your above post.

I knew someone would. But hey I am counting the days till I can order my new 2010 Dodge Ram HD Cummins. No Fords in my future especially with them coming out with their new maypop 400 HP 735 ft/lb torque motor. Good luck with that one Guinea pigs.

I think we as Americans need to show our opposition to these government subsidided auto manufacturers.

Neither one really have a legitimate chance of becoming a profitable entity again. We all know it.

This is one way we can send a message to our elected officials to STOP PLAYING GOD WITH THE ECONOMY!!!!!!!!

Let things run their course. Some companies will survive, some will not.
That's the way it has always been & it's the only way capitalism can work!
Those that survive without extraordinary subsidation deserve to have the market position they have earned.

I'm waiting for Toyota to build a 3/4 ton - that will make Detroit and the unions really squeel.

I'm done owning anything from the big three - I can't afford NOT to own a Toyota.

haha same, my tacoma paid itself off in a few years versus wat i had spent on GM/ford in the the past....

Not quite sure where that 10% figure is coming from, info I'm finding ranges from 50%government ownership and up.

Matters little to me, last truck was a Ford, present truck is a Ford, and likely next one will also be ...............

wait for it .............

a Ford. No surprise there huh?

Greetings All,

GM and Chrysler post chapter 11 numbers, it's important to note there are variables involved with these numbers so the numbers are plus or minus -

My reference sources are various news service providers via the internet.

GM-
American Government (We the People) = 60%
UAW = 20%
Bond Holders = 20%

Chrysler-
American Government (We the People) = 8%
Canada = 2%
Fiat = 35%
UAW = 55%

Craig.

even if both didnt go t!ts up I would never buy a chevy. Dodge maybe but only a diesel.

If I like going to the gay end of town I would buy a Toyota. But we leave that to people like you.

This sh!!! really irritates me. I have no college under my belt and I believe I'm ALOT smarter than all the fools running the $$ for the govt, Since they have so much money to give away, give the money to the people that dont have anymoney. the broke worthless people. The people on the bottom are going to spend it, etc... all the way up the line, ppl are going to fix up their houses, buy new ones, buy new vehicles... on and on.... but no lets just help the top 4% of people and wonder how everyone else is broke...

Thanks for the info. I knew that the Chrysler deal was right at 10% Gov with the UAW getting the biggest share. I figured that GM would probably be about the same but I haven't read to much about the GM deal cause Dodge is what is important to me. I wonder how many of these guys that are saying that Fords are in their future went out and switched banks after the bailouts that occured there. Or changed their mortgages. If Chrysler makes it I will still buy a Dodge and support a majority owned American company but if not here I come Toyota. Now bring on the red rep you Ford lovers!

Just remember if you pull 11k lbs with a f-350 super duty and your tranny blows under powertrain warranty, they are going to tell you that a class C semi is required and to get bent.

Well at least that's what they told me
