Welcome! I just bought my first Cat a few months ago too.

I just didn't want to take the turbo route like all my riding buddies. I much prefer a light weight sled to a powerful heavy one. I plan on keeping my heavily modded RX-1M 162" (for now).

This Cat stuff was completely new to me too but, I spent months researching the daylights out of Skidoos, Poos and Cat before and after Yamaha released their (disapointing to me) 2010 models. I ended up here after being disapointed with the engine longevity of the other two stroke brands.

My 09 M8 Sno pro made me a much better rider over night. I was doing stuff I had no idea I knew how to do. I think it was because the additional weight of my RX-1 never allowed me to be able to turn back up a hill halfway down the hill. I'm taking far more technical lines on hills now because I can contol the M8 much more precisely than my RX-1. All in all, (other than having to use injector oil again) I just love my M8.

What year of sled are you getting? I'd suggest a 2010 if you can afford one.

The mod list can be fairly long, or very short depending on what you want to do. Have you ridden a 09 M8 yet? They are fairly impressive, even in stock form.

Welcome to the dark side! :beer;:D

If yer coming off a turbo apex ya might as well order an anchor from the titanic ..............

so you feel at home with the extra weight, just plant it on the front bumper....
Jfwy:eek:. the cat is a load of fun and a lot lighter but still apples to bowling balls and with the pump gas turbo a real scream :D

Cool! my m8 153 will arrive in sept. this is my first brand new sled and my third cat. What year is it? if its a 10, all im gonna do is a can and maybe a y-pipe, but, im gonna hold out and see what everyone else runs/does with theirs and go from there. :D

an't that somthing another yammi guy turned cat.My fm yammi burnt down in feb and like u the 2010 nytro price scared me away.I picked up a turboed HCR, 162ed it and some suspesion work and its great. Now iam ether going to sell it and build a new one or just to some engine work to this one.NEED MORE POWER!!!:D:D:D:D

Still got the Apex? Have a turbo Nytro and may be looking for a T-Apex as a back up sled.

Now Now, with all that HP you wouldnt notice an anchor if it was in the front.

Good move i had a turbo Apex in 06 sold it bought a rev and an M-7 traded the rev in in 08 for a M-8 couldn't be happier...dont miss that heavy Apex even a little...:D Do the 162 Slp single pipe clutch kit..powerclaw cut the tunnel and ride ride ride..Or just get a 09 pipe it. Dont know much about the 2010 but it all sounds good.:face-icon-small-coo

the seat will most likely go and the can I hear is as big as the m1000. so its going also... after that I think I will just ride it and see.....the xp was not even in the running as I had the chance to try one in april....not sure why the sell the way they do....
