MPI releases E-Tec 850 Turbo (NOW SHIPPING)

MPI 850 Turbo Video

Here is a little video from playing around the other day. Please keep in mind I was riding in very poor snow conditions and by myself so wasn't able to go up higher where the snow is. Just dialing in some clutching but should have better video over the next week or so.

In the whole time I've known you Christopher... Have I ever called you Chris??

But I am hoping you get your's bolted in there soon... along with your new skid plates ;)

Cool.

Can you outline how the EABC works in this system?

What is monitored and how does it adjust??

Specifically... Which Dobeck version is being used... and what sensors are being used... (EG... TMAP or basic MAP sensors)?

EABC - This is working exactly like the many forum posts about boost compensation. At sea level the boost controller will be targeting a very low absolute pressure of 2.5 psi + 14.7 (sealevel) to target an overall pressure of 17.3 psi. As you go up in elevation the boost pressure will increase. So at 10.1 abs prs (10000 ft) the boost will not be 17.3 - 10.1 = 7.2 psi of boost pressure. This is basically the same idea as what Yamaha and Arctic Cat are doing with the factory turbo sleds. The snowmobile will always be at the same horse power.

Dobeck Box - Still using the traditional Dobeck Fuel controller. The code for the new 850 has changed a little bit but not much from all previous Etec Turbo Boxes. Some people will not like that but the Dobeck box is really simple to use once you understand how it works. The EABC has made the tuning a ton more consistent. I'm not lying...I haven't touch the controller in 4 rides now. We are using a Bosch TMAP sensor but haven't started using the temp side yet. With the new intake for the turbo being ran from the stock airbox this makes the charge temps very consistent.

Absolutely no hesitation off the start. Skidoo's new RAVE system makes the bottom end amazing. In the video I was running about 5 to 6 psi.

Just got off the phone with Mac at MPI.
Will have some VERY solid news for everyone about the 850 Turbo stock status and shipment status in an hour or two.
