Apparently you need to wear jeans while riding it.

Probably the most hillbilly brochure I've ever seen.

Everybody is whining about marketing strategery and all I can read is "Currently undergoing EPA compliance testing." Hey Gus, get ready to eat some crow! LOL

I swore off Dobek controllers and journal bearing turbos long ago, but if MPI truly has BRP's full support on this project and it's headed down the same road as their relationship with Yamaha a few years back, I'm going to take a strong look here. Besides, it will only be a few months before Evolution starts updating the MPI kits with the "good stuff" anyway... :face-icon-small-win

I rode a 165 850 all day in spring like conditions and it could wheelie like that no problem on flat ground. As long as the turbo wasn't handicapping the motor it would perform like that stock. I won't be buying anyone's untested turbo until I get to ride one and see it work for an extended period of time. I have had a turbo sled for the past 3 years and after last season I said I wont be riding a turbo again anytime soon. All the money in the world can't get a turbo to run right ?

short video on Jay Mentaberrys facebook page, I cant get the link to work sorry...
the MPI turbo kit's muffler is a bit loud

Your just not running the right kits, was going down the same Rd as you, the impulse has been a true pull and go, day in day our, all altuide or temp, keep boost under 9 and don't over rev is all it needs

Had a nice long conversation with Mac (the owner of MPI) last night and he was gracious enough to bring me fully up to speed on the new Turbo Kit he is building for the 850 Doo.

First Off, this kit is a WORK IN PROGRESS.

Doo has been making some minor tweaks to the final production of the 850, which have required MPI to make adjustments to the Turbo Kit.

As of last night the EXPECTED DELIVERY DATE for finished retail kits is now DECEMBER 1st! This is mostly a function of a LOT of custom fabrication that is just now getting going, and many of the parts that MPI is using are HAND MADE / Welded and not cast.

For the moment he politely asked me to hold off on releasing all of the details that everyone is asking for as there are a pile on contracts that have not yet been signed by all the players. This should all be wrapped up in the next couple weeks as they lock it down and move into FULL MASS PRODUCTION.

As soon as he has INK ON PAPER then he will allow me to post ALL the nitty gritty details you guys are looking for. I know exactly what is coming and I honestly think everyone will be pretty dang happy with what he is bringing to the market, I know as for me, I have committed to getting 2 of his kits for my new sleds, might even do 3. While Mac is a HORRIBLE marketer (I seriously chastised him for the cowboy photo on the new brochure) the fact is he delivers a super reliable turbo product that just runs and runs for years, and in the end that is really all that matters to people. RELIABLE DEPENDABLE BOOST that won't let you down in the backcountry.

If at all possible, I will try to have one of the new 850s in our booth at the snowshow in Salt Lake City and one of the kits. With a little luck we will have a final kit at the Boise Show and DO a live install on one of our new sleds! That one should be LIVE CAST here on SnoWest for any and all to watch, and be available as a Podcast so you can use it as a reference to install your own kit!

This has been the demise of the etec kits since 09 when they came out. Honestly one of the biggest hurdles, and it was never resolved was the vaccum powervalves, they just don't work that well under boost the way doo does them. Cable operated is the good stuff when boosting. Always in the right spot no matter what. And assuming this ECU can be cracked like the polaris units, that could seriously bring the DOO turbo's on the scene!

I have rode a lot of turbo etecs and while many of them ran very "well" and were faster then a turbo poo boost for boost. Haven't ride anything as crisp as a silber reflashed polaris Pro or Axys, or the BD sidekick kits on an axys.

I guess I don't get the comment Christopher said about MPI building a kit that runs and runs for years. This is not a 4 stroke, there will be 10 times the preventative maintenance to have that happen on a 2 stroke. I believe this is purely a sales pitch at this point until these things prove themselves. I am posting this mostly to inform people who have never been around 2 stroke turbos that are considering this based on comments like that. These comments can be very misleading to vulnerable people. I have read many many posts on here with people asking basic common sense questions and then you see a short while later they are buying a turbo. How in the world is some asking how to change a belt going to be able to sense detonation or a lean spot or mix fuel or............... Not trying to stir any pot, just trying to inform. FWIW I hope this kit rocks, if nothing else raise the bar for all manufacturers.

Few things to point out from the few pictures posted

Short charge tube and large air box.. Great idea for quick spool, and lower charge temps, any idea what size charge tube they used??

Not sure why they are using such a big silencer, get rid of it and strait pipe from turbo to exhaust hole, or tunnel dump.. Maybe the noise factor

Would hope there is no engine mods needed for the 250hp kit, old Etec motor is good to eight lbs or 225hp with out mods:eyebrows:

No mention what will be needed to hold power in primary, or has this not been done yet??

Yes, you are correct, the 2 Stroke engine WILL require more maintence than the 4 Stroke. My Yamahas would easily get 20,000 miles UNTOUCHED fully boosted. The 2 Stroke won't.

But my comment was on the TURBO KIT.
It will Last, and Last and Last.

As for the 850 E-Tec.
Expectation is 3,000-4,000 miles boosted lifespan before teardown.
But only TIME will tell what we will see in the real world with Sledding beating the crap out of their engines.

Also remember 2 stroke exhaust is much dirtier than 4 stroke exhaust. All of that carbon and dirty oil will be going right through that turbo unlike the much cleaner 4 stroke. It will take a toll on that turbo long before it would on a 4 stroke. All comments aside I really hope I get a chance to ride at least a stock 850 this year, boosted would definitely be a plus. Let it snow, let it snow!!!!

I agree with the exhaust on two stokes being dirty, but semis would and still can get 500000 miles out of a turbo and there's a lots of carbon and soot there.
