Most miles put on in one day?

I
Just because I'm starting to develop a small case of cabin fever, I figured it would be kinda cool to hear other peoples personal records for most miles snowmobiled in one day.

I know mine is 232 in one day, riding a lot of trails that go through the Wind River Mountains, and the Big horns out in Wyoming.

when I was sixteen I did 315 in one day. the last hundred was hell. I still remember the last 30 miles being a lot of I don't care driving right down the shoulder of the road sick of it!
it was just one of those poor planned rides had a destination in mind but kept finding nice play areas along the way.
cross country riding in the lakes area of Minnesota can get you logging some serious miles.
we rode from home Nashua mn all the way up to dead lake. it dosnt look that far on a map but with all the screwing around it really racked up the miles

I've never kept track of miles. I expect it's something in the neighborhood of 80 Miles.

There's a hunt that we do north of Fairbanks that required us to go 30 miles in over a mountain range in order to get to the hunting area. There and back is about 60 miles and I expect we put on 20 miles or so once we were in the hunt area.

We only have about three miles of groomed trail where I live. It's enough to get us out of the forest. Once we're off the trail, it is a lot of steep terrain, so you don't put on a lot of miles. Sure do burn a lot of gas though. I would say that most days, you're lucky if you put on 20 or 30 miles.

So, I think I'm stuck with low mileage rides that burn a tank of fuel. Maybe I'll take note of the miles that I put on in a day this season. It's something that I'm not usually paying attention to. Usually paying more attention to the fuel gauge.

My longest in the mountains was 85 in one day. I'm usually in the 30-50 range.

100 with no trail

Not a ton of miles, but I had a ride a few years ago that was about 90-100 and we never crossed our tracks until the last mile of trail back to the truck. I thought that was pretty sweet for mountain riding.

I started traveling / riding the mountains in the early 2000's. Before that we did a LOT of trail riding. Its pretty easy to rack up big miles in Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec. 100+ mph for miles and miles is not uncommon, My biggest trip was 1500 miles in 5 days with a high day of 400 miles.

Now........The highest I know of in One Day (24 hours) was done by a group of 4 guys from the Midwest and a good friend of mine was one of the 4.
They put on 1000.9 miles in 24 hours trail riding. It was all planned out ahead of time, the route, the miles, food/bathroom breaks, and gas stops.

Now days prefer my 20-30 mile days of busting powder :) Eric

Ive done 340 miles back in my midwest days when crusing the U.P with my dad.

But agreed, now the best days are judged by how much fuel you use for the least amount of miles.

75... lol, and it was a long trail in.

best days are when your fuel light is on in under 30.

my average days are like 35-45 and were about out of fuel. maybe 60 for places with longer routes into the good play areas.

140 miles. All off trail. 03 vertical escape. Packed 7.5 gallons of extra fuel. Daylight until after dark. Pulled the sled in trailer and it ran out of gas so I know i had all the fun i could have.

I have found that riding in MN can be quite a workout.......for the liver.
Ride 10 miles stop for a Grain Belt, ride 15 miles stop for a Grain Belt, ride 12 miles stop for a Grain Belt and so on and so on.

I like the gal/miles idea :) My best day for that situation was 12gal of fuel in 35 miles PLUS 4lbs of N2O. That was one of those days where you can get stuck in the flat meadows. Eric

I tried that one time, almost died.

Probably the most miles I've put in a day is 100 miles. Did that breaking in my Apex, never went faster than 25 mph....started at 6pm and wrapped up around 2-3am. Pretty much the ride and the next day at work sucked.
