most common xp complaint

My 09 XP Summit 163 SUCKS! I hate that it smokes my buddies' sleds. It climbs better and I smoke them in a drag race. I hate this sled!

I agree, I can't take it any more. It is so hard to deal with something beating you after they spent 1000 $ plus to modify it.
 
I wouldn't mind an easier throttle. It is hard to feather on some of those side hills and tree trips.
 
as the second season of xp's comes to a end we have seen the most common question being put to us is .
my xp wont pull over 7900.

the list of reasons is growing but the most common issue in the cause is
1- clutches out of alignment ..out of parrell....08/09 m0dels


2- worn tower cap on 08 primarys, 09 good
3- fuse gone that controls rave solenoid power
4- changing mains from 480's to 460's both years

5 - when working the sled hard engine coolant temps exceeding 140 and ign timing retarding
6- knock sensor set off.. ie the coolant temp scenario. fuels will detonate when block coolant head temp gets in the 140 range on poorer fuels

What is worn on the tower cup? I had a 09 and my 08 they look identical. Bushing seams different. Is it they bushing that needs to be swapped?
 
I have changed 2 tower cups until I got one that was in spec, from the start. This sled rocks and I am tired of wiping the grin off m face,

i was a little weary about my clutch allignment on my 09 xp, so i bought the allignment tool from BRP, and then check it with the directions that i got off of the mxzrevzone and it all checked out within specs, so i'm hoping all is well. what do you think Dynamo Joe?

Stupid ?, but what are you calling the tower cap? at $80 a piece, are you refering to the aluminium spring cap with 3 allan head bolts? I'm confused as I mick'ed mine and was no diff that I could see. Sorry for the trouble.
 
I just purchased a new 09 XP and after two rides my only complaint is that I bought it too late in the season and it's going to be a LONG summer. What a blast to ride, power and hookup is better than any other stocker I've ridden. I'm not even going to put a can on it, a little clutching and thats about it.

From driving an xp on a safe pull to where I can be on and off the throttle - with the side panel and clutch guard removed, I think the engine still flex's too much.
Some guys have taken the time to go to the RS race sled engine mounts however the amplitude of vibration increases, you feel with your feet and on the handlebars.
